Looking for a new hi tech light
Hey I am looking for a nice new light to put on my 25 gal 24 inch long 19 inch high tank I am leaning toward led if they even grow light right now I have this entire kit for my tank http://m.petsmart.com/mt/www.petsmar...ductId=3623645 I know I can get a better light than this for my plants
A finnex Ray2, 24 inch long light would be a good choice. See http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=189944
I have heard a lot of good things about this light and it looks nice this probably the one I'm gonna get
I have the same tank and received the 24 inch Ray 2 fixture about two weeks ago. Seems to be a good combo so far.
So u like it better than the stock t5s?
It's definitely brighter. I've had the tank setup for about 6 months with the stock T5 fixture. I haven't had the Ray 2 long enough to give a full review on the growth of my plants. I did have a custom glass top made because if you center the light on the tank it sits over the hinge blocking a good portion of the light.

Yeah I did. I used the hinge that came with the stock top and bought a new handle from a lfs. I'm using a fluval 206 and wasn't to fond of the back plastic piece so I made it all glass and notched the corners for the intake and outflow pipes. I put a half inch radius in the corner of the notches to reduce the chance of breakage.

You probably can use the top that it came with. I just get picky with the small details.
would it be fine for the lights if i didnt have a cover?
The lights come with a splash guard. I use the top to reduce evaporation.
k thanks that is what i was wondering cause i dont mind putting water in when it gets low cause of evaporation
