Replace bulbs?
 

I bought this light and it came with one 6000K and one 650nm Roseate T5 HO bulbs.

My question is, should I replace them with 6700k's?

I have a 55g, 48x21x12.
Currently dosing EI method and using Metricide 14.
I want to be certain I have "enough" light but still not too much for a 10 hour photo period.

If you like the look of the bulbs, I would keep them. Without pressurized CO2, you don't want to push your lighting to the maximum.

The 650 nm Roseate bulb sounds like your typical plant bulb (very pink).

You can change them to 6700K bulbs if you want; it will not increase the amount of light you have. It will change the look of your aquarium, as 6700K is significantly whiter (with a tint of blue).

What "would" change the amount of light in my tank? I have seen no growth, the tank looks dark, and not sure if light is my problem, or my hard water. (unable to test gh/kh atm-gotta buy a kit on the 1st)

I am feeling a little distressed, it has been since 12/20, and the only new growth I have are, 1 leaf on an Anubas, New roots on my Swords near the top leaves, and frogbit having babies (which are starting to be my favorite since they are the only plants seeming to thrive. .
My Vals melted, my egra densa melted, my Bacopa Carolina looks the same since it was planted, and just about ready to give up.

Vals melted from the metricide probably. They tend to be sensitive to glutaldahyde. I've had Vals melt from Excel but left the roots in so, they did adjust and grow back. You could swap the roseate for a 6700 K and leave the 6000 K in.

Adding an additional bulb would increase the amount of light you have (and would eliminate dark spots as well).

That rate of growth sounds about right for Anbuias spp. They tend to be extremely slow growers.

Are you sure you have an Amazon Sword? Roots from the tops of leaves does not sound like any Amazon Sword I know.

I think so, it was labeled a sword when I bought it from Petco.

Those roots aren't from the main sword; that's a runner stem that plantlets will grow off of and develop their own roots. When the roots grow out a couple inches, you can carefully remove the daughter plants and replant them. Try not to wait too long or you'll end up with this:

That's two runners from a single amazon sword with probably 20+ 6" daughter plants that stretched all the way across my 4' 90g tank.

It definitely looks like a Sword of some kind. Without a clearer picture, I cannot be sure, but it looks like a daughter Amazon Sword, or perhaps a spathe.
