Anyone running CO2?
 

I was just wondering if anyone in Michigan is running DIY or pressurized CO2?

If so what is your setup?

I am. I have a 5 lb tank and a JBJ regulator with just a regular UP AQUA diffuser on my ten gallon.

Nice are you happy with it? Would you buy it again?

5lb tank, milwuakee regulator with bubble counter and needle valve, BOYD glass spiral diffuser. Loving it so far. Although once I move im goin to be investigate reliable methods to split into multiple line after the regulator, as ill run 3 tanks off this 5lb. I run a 10lb. with aquariumplants.com electronic CO2 reg. diffusing into a Cerges reactor I built myself. Works GREAT. Check out my sig. for pictures it's the 72 gallon. Plants couldn't be growing faster. Next week my new LED lights should be shipping and hopefully the growth will take off more.

I've got two diffrent setups...

10lb, Smith regulator, Milwaukee solenoid, Fabco NV, Atomic diffuser on my 75G

And a then a 15lb, Milwaukee regulator (new gages), Milwaukee solenoid, Fabco NV x2 and Atomic diffuser x2 on a 70G and 47G

I've yet to explore the world of reactors?

For a few years I've been looking at pressurized setups and I always thought if I got a setup I would want one that has a two stage regulator because when I seen other setup I thought that the ones with 2 stage regulator's were the best. I've seen like you everyone posted there are so many options I'm just wanting to see if a 2 stage regulators are the worth the money.

I'm really happy with it. I've never gotten the kind of growth like I do in this tank without CO2. The only thing is that I bought a used regulator and it's a bit finicky. I may have to replace it eventually. Other than that, it's really a breeze.

With my 80 gallon tank i plan on running a reactor for full co2 diffusion, most likely get one from drsfosterandsmith as there are some pretty cheap but reliable ones on there. Not as cheap as DIY, but more going for long term reliablilty on this one as it will be pressurized co2 being injected lol.

I have a co2 setup I too have a milwaukee regulator and couldn't be more pissed off with them.. Im not the only one, as one of the managers of Blue fish in Grandville had their regulator dump all the co2 in one of his client's marine tanks killing 2000 worth of fish...

Mine dumped on my 30 gallon tank as well killing every fish in my tank.. over 20 some fish.

When calling them he said it is because pressure backs up on their regulator/solenoid and that I have to drill into the solenoid to fix it..

OK.. so they sell a faulty product that should be fixed before selling it.. instead they allow consumers to destroy their tanks first before explaining any of this?

Oh, the Solenoid also basically burnt out on me as well.. they are sending me a new one, but I think im gonna switch to an Atomic regulator from green leaf aquariums.. they are new and have really good reviews from a lot of people. Plus they are compact and are made to work with their in-line diffusers which have great dissolve rates of co2 from what ive heard as well.

Just giving all you Milwaukee owners fair warning if it hasn't happened yet, as over time the solenoid will get dirty from refills etc.. It then causes backups that are almost impossible to tell if you have.. which will then cause a blow up of Co2 into ur tank and should kill everything.

Duckmasta, Ive heard from a lot of guys who have used the in-line diffusers from green leaf, that they work even better than most reactors.. something to look into if you are looking for a cheaper solution than a full on reactor

i use the green leaf inline atomic diffuser, works really well. only thing is you have to get your psi above 30 for it to work. not all regulators will do it so just be aware. combine it with a spraybar and ive got a fine mist all through my 75 gallon

i plan on switching over to the atomic inline and the new atomic regulators on green leaf..

I run DIY for now, 2x 1.75liter juice bottles and a fluval ceramic diffusor. Hopefully christmas will bring me the beginnings of a more standard setup :-)

I have recently assembled a 35gal hexagon tank with a few live plants a dozen fish and 6 ghost shrimp.I have two 40watt cfl lights which are more than enough for the depth of the tank also have a DIY c02 made out of two 2L pop bottles dispersing into the intake of a pump .
