How do you ship without breather bags?
 

Can someone help me figure out how to ship without breather bags because at the moment i have none.

I believe he is trying to ship Endlers.

Breather bags are cheap. Why not buy some from a member here or on one of the auction sites?

I shipped endlers from buffalo to Hawaii in regular 3mil plastic bags. 4 days in the mail and no doas.

Bag Buddies used to be a handy item before the breather bags came into play. You might find some somewhere. Chloram-X is also good to put in the water. The breather bags might be the best way to go.

sorry yes i am hoping to ship endlers but i was hoping to trade for breather bags for fish. and because i have no breather bags at moment i need to find out how to do this successfully. could i just take large ziplock bags pump the bags 50% with air and pack them tight in the insulation? also should i leave the fish alone without food for about 3 days so they dont produce waste in the bag?

Add a few pellets of an ammonia absorbing compound, maybe some activated carbon, to the bag. I know Ive ordered fish in the past and had them come in bags with 5 or 6 black and white pellets in them, and I just assumed thats what that was, I never asked the shipper.

Also the fish produce ammnonia just from breathing, whether fed or not. Maybe go a day or two without feeding just to prevent too much waste, but 3 seems excessive.

No zip-locks! They are certain to fail! Many auctions don't allow them as they so often pop open. In the mail it is certain to happen.
It will take some type of plastic bag that can be tied shut. For bags that are not breather bags add just enough water to let the fish swim easy. They don't need water as much as air. O2 is best but not for the one time shipper. Grip the bag so as much air is trapped as possible, twist the bag top and wrap a rubber band around the twist, fold it over and seal with rubber band again. Stick this bag inside a second bag upside down and seal the second like the first. This gives more protection but the main value is in the way the bag corners are rounded when double bagged. In single bags there are pockets in the corners and fish get in them and die. Pack the bags in a box with lots of insulation. Pad them well to protect from heat and cold as well as cushion them . They WILL be thrown across the room so prep for that. They will likely arrive will box corners smashed and tears in the outside box. Don't leave the plastic bag next to the sides so it gets torn.

That's a primer on bagging but it takes more for the full trip.
