I am using a 2.5G tank to stmy first planted tank. I am using a Aqueon® Colormax Mini Compact Fluorescent Lamp, Seachem Flourite Plant Substrate, river rocks, driftwood, and dwarf hairgrass.

What should I use as a background to make the plants stand out once they start growing

Use a black/dark background.

Are you dosing any ferts?

I am using flourite substrate

Flourite substrate is just a high CEC material. There's no ferts whatsoever in it.

What do you recommend using

I'm going to start doing daily spritz of aqueon aquarium plant food

nice start... and I agree with what someone else said, use a dark background - I think it will be important with the substrate you are using

Like the others said dark background I would say black that way it makes everything stand out.
