Moss tree?

Hi guys, need some advice on the type of moss/plants I can tie to this wood to make it look like a moss tree. This piece of wood doesn't have branches so its a heachache.

Willow moss maybe?

Christmas Tree moss! Just pack it onto the sides of the wood and tie it with cotton thread. The moss will attach to the wood and the cotton thread will eventually disintegrate.

You could take a dab of super glue and put a fat bunch of java moss right on the tip top and have it fan out parallel to the floor to creat a tree that would look like the ones from the African safaris.

I've heard super glue is not the best...

I used the smallest diameter fishing line I could fine. It held the moss in place just fine until it rooted, and was nearly invisible.

I saw a tank journal on some forum that used bamboo skewers attached to the top of the "trunk" to make fake branches. IT took a while to fill in and hide the skewers but it looked good. I wish I remember where I saw it.

Get some stainless steel mesh and shape it how you want the tree to look round, flat top or whatever. You can even create branches if you want. Just cover it in moss the cover the steel.

Thanks for all the advices, you guys are great. I'm new to this (just tried to tie mosses to some other driftwood recently) and it is really fun. Am now thinking whether to grow weeping or flame moss on it?

The moss you use will be based off your aesthetic preference. For "trees", a favorite of mine is miniXmas moss. Mini Pelia is also quite amazing but also quite pricey. Since this piece of wood has no branches, I would get hard plastic mesh and put moss in between it. Cut it to a size that is slightly smaller than what you want the final perimeter of the tree to be, then after sandwitching the moss in between, glue it on top with a gel type super glue.

I've used super glue with anubias, ferns and mosses with no issues.
