MTS or Nerites in Seattle?
Hiya, new-ish to this area for school and wondered if there were any local sources of MTS or nerites? I want some cute bottom/algae feeders and Petco and The Fish Store don't seem to carry either, just ramshorns and mystery snails when I called.
Thanks! |
A place in Sumner (east of Tacoma) has tons of MTS and a few Nerites.

Hmm, that is looking like a 4 hour bus ride to get there and back. May try that if I can't find any closer to Seattle. XD Ty!

Periodically I see them at A Place for Pets in Burien; call first for availability. |
It's a ferry ride and a bit away, but Farmland Pets in Silverdale gives MTS away for free. They might have nerites as well, but I wasn't on the lookout for them when I was there last.

Most fish stores have MTS and don’t know it, well they know they are snails but that’s it. Every fish store I’ve visited had MTS in their tanks (pest snails) all you have to do is look closely at the gravel in their tanks for a while and you will see them. Just ask and they will give you some free, I did this at pet smart and now I have lots of them.

"The Fish Store" in Seattle has Nerites, that's where I got mine. They also gave me Ramshorns albeit it came in on a plant via eggs. I don't mind them as they make great food for my fish.
