Looks like the Archaea 36W clip-on.

Do you think the noise will keep you up at night?

Yessir! That's what it is, and i like it quite a bit.

Brian_Cali77 10-05-2012 06:30 PM

Are you going to use a canister filter for a more silent sound? Or since your a fan of ambient noise, you'll go for the soothing sounds of water trickling down from an HOB? LOL

kribkeeper888 10-05-2012 06:35 PM

Good start, when you do your hardscape keep your substrate line straight. And as for nose at night i have uh....5 tanks in my room LOL

For filtration i was planning on an Eheim 2213. I have the 2215 and 2217 running on other tanks, and IME you cant go wrong with them. HOBs always end up going from trickling to rattly for me.

loucas6290 10-05-2012 07:02 PM

For hardscape i was thinking of a rock formation like this:

@kribkeeper888: Can you elaborate on the methodology behind a straight substrate line? I am back and forth between a sloping hill(pictured in my second post) or a straight slanted line in front (pictured above) and appreciate any recommendations.

Umm, that wasn't me who suggested that. I like the more aggressive slope in the second set. As for rattling HOB's... I know what you mean.

kribkeeper888 10-16-2012 12:05 AM

I just ment at the front of the tank keep it straight across and slope from there.

Due to extremely laziness, here's two rounds of updates.
