How many Nebraskans are avid fish keepers?
Because sometimes I feel like the only one! I was talking to one of my friends the other day about RCS (because I am trying to find some for my tank) and she was like "People actually keep shrimp?" :icon_lol: So if you find yourself in the same situation, explaining that no, keeping fish does not make you a freak, then send a shout out! Let us know who you are! Stories about dumb things people say are also welcome. :P

Welcome! Not Nebraska, but Due North in SD! Whereabouts are you? I'm not aware of any good shrimp LFS in Nebraska, but there are some cool ones.
http://www.fishfreakscichlids.com/ Makes me dream about having a big cichlid tank again. http://www.midwestcichlid.com/showth...!-LOAD-WARNING Another place has a tank with Gymnos that I fell in love with.... just waiting on approval for the new tank for them or frontosa! |
I'm just outside of Lincoln... And the only shrimp the lfs there sells is ghost shrimp... which are great, but not what I was looking for lol.
It looks like there aren't ANY local fish-lovers! A disappointment, but I guess I'll just have to go convert some... ;) |
Hey GuppyGirl, welcome to the forums! I also live in NE, probably not too far from you (I'm near York).
Sorry, I have not been living here long enough to have had time to check out all of the local LFS. You might try going to Nebraska Aquatic Supply in Omaha. I don't know if they have many shrimp, but they have some and they seem very willing to take suggestions from customers on what to stock. You can check them out on Facebook, and they have a posting on this forum as well. |
I'm ur brother GuppyGirl lol. I think i live in Nebraska... :P
|
naturelady if you're from Nebraska join my group; Nebraskan Aquarists.
|
I didn't ask about fish-killers! :P lol
|
Yes ma'am. I'm in Omaha. And there really isn't a great place for shrimp here. Unless you're a ghost shrimp. :) You can get fish you like special ordered from Aquapets, or just go there like every other day like I do!

I have seen lower grade CRS at Nebraska Aquatic Supply but to be honest you would be better off buying from some of the members on this forum as you will end up with nicer shrimp for half of what you would pay at a LFS. I myself have a hard time spending money on these over priced water roaches even though some of them are beautiful. To each is own I guess. Nebraska Aquatic does have some nice stuff though as far as a LFS goes. It's nice to see more Nebraskans on here as well.
|
Yeah, I think I'll just end up ordering them online... but I really hate shipping costs. lol
Do you have any recommendations? |
http://www.theshrimpfarm.com/ all my shrimp came alive and well.. tiny however...
|
That looks like a pretty good deal! :icon_bigg I don't know if I have room for 50 full grown shrimp... but I figure I can probably find homes for the overflow. Thanks for the reference!

No problem, I was in Omaha yesterday, stopped at Nebraska Aquatic Supply and say they had a few more types of shrimp than they used to. Crystals, oranges, and some that were called black something and blue something shrimps... If you wanna keep it local and skip the shipping, pester them into cutting you a deal :D
|
lol I'll have to check that out too! :D
|
I live in Omaha and I'll have some red rili shrimp for sale soon, if you wanted some of those. :)
