Experiences with crypt lingua?
I was considering planning for this plant in a new setup, and it would grow mostly emersed.
I was just curious if anybody had positive/negative encounters with keeping this plant. |
Emerged is the way to go. Never kept mine going past 2 months.
Found its located in swamps. Water goes up, water goes back down. Not fully submerged, -Gordon |
Never grown it submerged, out of water it is a nice little plant though.
|
Grew one submerged for over a year. Never more than a few leaves at a time and did not propagate.

i have never been able to keep C. lingua alive submerged
they do fine emersed though i kept them in a closed tank outdoor but the tank cover doesn't completely shut so when it rains plants inside are drowned until i remember to drain them. it kinda simulate river banks where water goes up and down like Gordon said |
Yeah, I gathered that they were not the toughest immersed plants. I was thinking of planting one in a crack between two rocks where only about 1/4-1/2" of the plant was submerged.
Anyone else have any experience with this plant? |
Grew them and flowered them etc.
More an emergent plant I'd say over the long term. Pretty plant though. |
