We've got shrimp!

I'm proud to announce That S.Oak will have shrimp available very soon!

We picked up our very first shrimp import (shrimport?) yesterday and everyone is settling in to their new homes as we speak. They will be for sale soon! They are being quarantined for a while (10 days) so that I can be sure I'm shipping out only healthy, high quality shrimp.

I'll be updating this thread with pics later today. In the meantime, please help me out by voting in the shipping survey poll.

In addition to shrimp, we also got in a bunch of celestial pearl danios/galaxy rasboras (whatever they are called this week) but they are not easy to photograph. At all :(

How exactly do you import? Company name? I've always been curious?

Well, first you have to get a permit from fish and wildlife, then you have to find a wholesaler/breeder and get them to give you a price list. Some will only give price lists to registered businesses, some don't care. Then you have to be able to meet their minimum order. Some places don't have a minimum, but you still have to order enough shrimp to make shipping worthwhile. Shipping and fees alone will run you at least $1,000.

All in all, it's not terribly difficult, but it is expensive and time consuming.

Yea, it's a neo. Denticulata variety. Same as cherries and just as easy to keep I'm told.

And the pic really does not do them justice. They are sort of a translucent blue with a darker blue "core" running through the tail, body, and sometimes stripes. I'll try to get some better pics up soon.

So what does S grade Fire Red mean? Are they not exactly PFRs? They seem like they can be pfrs from the pics

They're PFRS. They're just graded according to redness and coverage of the red, with "S" being the highest grade available right now :)
