Funny thing just signed in to ask what was coming out of QT and BAM! New sales list. Sweet!
I do have a couple questions though, sorry.
1 "Bumble bee shrimp (Neocaridina) $4, 10/$35" is this right? thought that these were Caridina or am I confusing them with something else?
2 Malawa and Caridina Propinqua are both safe with RCS and Tigers, is that right?
3 Can the Y.cruciatus be housed with cories & German Rams. was looking to setupone of my planted tanks with 2-3 german rams and some of your micro fish. Looking at (when u have again) Dario Dario, CPD and Dario sp. Jaintia Hill. Would these be doable in a 38 gal ph 6.7 soft heavy planted? thanks looking forward to ordering.

Could you further describe or list ingredient on this... "Soilent green (aufwuch replacement)"

msjinkzd 01-20-2012 11:43 AM

Its my favorite of teh diets. I feed it to my stiphodons, plecos(ancistrus), otocinclus, nerites, etc, Here is some more info:

Soilent Green:
This fresh and saltwater formula is labeled for “aufwuchs” eaters. Aufwuchs is a combination of green algae, diatoms, and small plants, along with tiny organisms such as insect larvae, crustaceans, rotifers, protozoans, and snails that live with them on the surface of hard substrates such as rocks. Many species of fish such as Mbuna cichlids, various plecos and gobies are specialized to feed on aufwuchs by scraping hard surfaces for whatever nutrients they can find. These species do eat a lot of low-caloric algae, but it is the small meaty treats that they relish and what really makes them grow and thrive. Soilent Green is a no-expense-spared blend of algae (25% of formula), combined with the highest quality whole aquatic animal ingredients, to provide a perfect balance of plant and aquatic animal proteins. Soilent Green is perfect for more herbivorous fish, shrimps, crabs, and snails.

I know this might be a dumb question.

Bumble bee shrimp = CBS right?

joon 01-20-2012 08:15 PM

no CBS and bumble bee are completely different

msjinkzd 01-20-2012 08:30 PM

bumble bee are Caridina cf. breviate, bee are Caridina cf. cantonensis

fresh.salty 01-20-2012 08:38 PM

So in other words in those two names they are close enough to the named specie to be called that, for now. lol

msjinkzd 01-20-2012 08:41 PM

More that no one has set down and genetically and microscopically necessarily name them. cf basically means falls into all the characteristics of. It could have happened, but unless scientific journals are read, the information is slow to trickle back.

fresh.salty 01-20-2012 08:57 PM

I definitely didn't mean anything by it. It's refreshing to see it used when in fact some of these specie we keep have yet to be identified beyond doubt.

Jeromeit 01-20-2012 09:41 PM
