Quality LFS Near Greenville, SC? Under 2 Hour Drive?
I am just starting back up in the hobby and noticing that many of the fish stores I was familiar with are out of business now. Anyone have recommendations for stores near Greenville, SC? I'd rather not drive more than 2 hours, but if it is a GREAT store I'd consider a longer trip.
From Greenville: Asheville, NC - 1 hour drive Columbia, SC - 2 hour drive Atlanta, GA - 2 hour drive Athens, GA - 2 hour drive Hickory, NC - 2 hour drive Charlotte, NC - 2 hour drive Charleston, SC - 3.5 hour drive Raleigh/Durham area - 4 hour drive Any ideas? |
Hello!
Well if you want to drive to Columbia, Fishy Business is by far my favorite. But I'm currently in Greenwood and have just started working with a local place here called Eric's Tropical Pets. The Dwarf Blue Gourami I got from her is awesome and she can order in just about anything you need (just got two Black Lyretail Mollies - exactly what I wanted the to look like too). She doesn't have any quarantine tanks in back so when she gets her shipments in, she has to put them into the sale tanks and from what I've noticed, so long as you either get the fish when they first come in (like I did with these Mollies, still in shipping water) or wait a 3-4 days after the shipment comes in, everything is good. ~sasdrum |
Tideline Aquatics in Hanahan, SC not to far from Charleston is the best I have ever been to anywhere. Here is their website tidelineaquatics.net

Aquarium Oddities is on Woodruff Road (just off 385 and next to Monterey's restaurant). It's a small store, but they have some interesting things. I bought a really nice, large rock there. Mostly marine fish and products though. Would love to find a place that carries a good amount of tropical fish and supplies here in Greenville other than the big box stores.

Tideline in Hanahan is worth the drive.

+1 for Tideline.
Pet World in Boiling Springs (Spartanburg) is a good little store. The owner is pretty interesting to chat with. Fintastic in Charlotte is nice but not inexpensive. Love Fish Warehouse in Hickory. Knowledgeable folks there. Asheville Aquarium (LFS, not a public aquarium despite the confusing name) is worth a look too. |
