I thought I would share some pictures of the pond I put in about 10 years ago and the koi that reside there. This pond is 11' x 16' and 3'6" deep. It has had 3 generations of koi spawn but I haven't had any spawns the last 3 years and I have no idea why. Without further rambling here is the pictures because that is what everyone wants to see anyway.

gorgeous

how does it do during winter??

ua hua 07-19-2011 05:45 PM

Thanks for the comments. It freezes over in winter except for the waterfall and down by the skimmer box where I put a stock tank de-icer. The fish all stay in there and huddle at the bottom. As long as the top doesn't completely freeze over so there can be some surface exchange everything is just fine. The fish stop getting fed once the temp reaches a certain point because they can't digest the food.

If I had that in my backyard, I'd live outside. :D

That is such a sweet lookin pond. Your kois look so beautiful as well. I love the bridge as well. How many gallons is that?

ua hua 09-02-2011 04:24 AM

Well the pump for the waterfall has been making some noise for awhile and today it decided to crap out. I still have the old one that I replaced 3 years ago because it seemed like it wasn't pumping the volume that it used to so it will work until I get a new one ordered. I figure that 3-4 years of pump life is about what I should expect since it runs 24-7 everyday of the year.

It looks really nice. Great job!

FIT BMX 09-02-2011 04:16 PM

What pump are you going with?

speedie408 09-02-2011 04:46 PM

Love it man! Wanna come build me one when I buy a house? haha That's a nice looking Koi too... the one with the serrated longer fins.
