The official Orchid thread!
Alright, so I know some of you are really into orchids and I am getting into them! Right now I only have two orchids (Phalaenopis sp. hybrids), but I would like to get more! I don't if I can label this "official", but I am anyway :biggrin:

I have three different orchids in my plant wall. I have new growth on all of them, but it will be a while before I start to get new stalks. I really like orchids, but I don't know much about them. I was really happy last year when I actually got a Phalaenopis to bloom again after a year.

I am going to try and get a bigger collection this summer, but I am not sure. My Phal that I bought last year at wal-mart for five dollars isn't doing that well. It shot out a new leaf but it broke, and two other leaves have died. I am trying to save it though! |
Have you checked out the orchid forums. They are just as crazy about their orchids as we are about out fish and plants.

Yes I have! I am a member on Orchidboard, haven't posted there yet (maybe once...) but I think I will become a avid member! Got any pictures of your orchids Jason? Leaves need their spotlight too!

Thanks!! I was disappointed that it died, I spent like half an hour trying to decide which pattern I like the best and would take home. I got it at Home Depot or Lowes, can't remember which.
Maybe I will try again later in the Spring, when I put some of my Carnivorous Plants outdoors, I will have room on my plant shelf in my room since I have a humidifier set up there for my Sundews and Butterworts. |

Very Nice Orchids TPT members!! I've been collecting orchids for a few years now... i keep them under a T8x6 in a spare room!! Truly addicting ;)

You have some very beautiful orchids Adam and have definitley mastered the art of taking pictures. Very cool.
