Need help with rock selection
I have been looking all over my area for stone dealers and have finally found something. My only problem is that I have no clue as to what kind of rock would be safe for an aquarium. Here is a link http://www.schwakestone.com/stone/boulders.html#0 to a place near my house that has some good looking stone. Can someone please suggest which would be safe for my aquarium. I am going tomorrow afternoon. Thanks a million:icon_lol:

The aqua black boulders will be fine in your aquarium... Heres a link you can see them in my 50 gallon hardscape. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/me...hardscape.html
I have discus in there now that have been doing great. They also look a lot better in your tank =) |
Get some of the littlest pieces of whatever you like. The broken off bits.
Test those bits in glasses of the water you use in the tank. Tap? RO? Do you add peat moss? Test GH, KH, pH, TDS for a week or two. If any rocks make changes you do not want in the tank, then do not use that one. I have some that your store calls 'Imagination'. Red lava in weird shapes. They make interesting caves. |
Thanks for the info. I wasn't able to make it there today (it's snowing:icon_mad:)so I will be going next Saturday. I'm changing my 46gallon bowfront fish only tank to a planted tank so I am impatiently waiting for my canister filter to "age". Thanks again.:red_mouth
