Tropical Fish Hobbyist... From 1975

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/Scan0002.jpg

I am a Big fan (for the most part) of Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine. Well in late December I took a trip to a local thrift store and found a TFH magazine from January of 1975! I have read through a little of it and am amazed at how far the hobby has advanced over the last 36 years.

I would like to see if, maybe, I could scan the whole thing on my printer so that I would have it as an online book.

Thats a pretty good find! I thought I had a few old ones at 1992. Shows how long ive been "fishin" :)

What fish is that on the cover?
An Anabantoid? or a cichlid?

It is a Macropodus cupanus cupanus, or spiked paradise fish.

I was really amazed that I was luckey enough to catch this thing. I just wonder who brought it in?

Nice, you don't see those these days. They are pretty.

That is what I thought when I first saw the magazine, (and read the name of the fish...)

Another thing that is amazing is the price of the advertized items: Less then $40 for a diatom filter and $1-2 live food cultures. I even saw an add that had a picture of a semi-canister filter. Really cool.

Scan it in if possible would like to read it! Thx

mistergreen 02-02-2011 02:39 AM

$40 was a lot of money back then.. You have to account for inflation.

*Facepalm* Whoops! I should have thought about that a bit more...

Very nice find, dude!

RipariumGuy 02-02-2011 01:54 PM

Darn. I just got an Email back from TFH which said that scanning it would break(?) the copyright...

avandss 02-02-2011 02:33 PM

Can you send it to a few ppl by email? I really want to see it.

mistergreen 02-02-2011 03:58 PM

Well, if you want to part with it, you can put it up on the S&S.
