The "I Love Riccia Club"
Since some of you have posted your fondness for this plant in the "other" riccia thread, I thought it would be only fair for you to have a place to confess your love for it.
So membership is now open to any new members who would like to admit that they actually like this plant or members that want to change "clubs" LOL |

Ricci is a pretty cool plant. I grow it on the bottom of my tank attached to DW with very low light and some DIY co2...grows like a weed and looks great. Only problem is removing it from everywhere else in the tank.

I use to love this plant... I removed it all from my tank 6 or 7 months ago... but still pick 20 pieces out every water change...

:bounce: riccia for thewin!

lol, I HATE riccia. I keep trying to get rid of it, but it's like roaches.
|
I also have a post over the in the "I Hate Riccia" thread. I just can't make up my mind. I have reasons I love it and hate it although I've not had any for a few years I thought I'd post a pic of when I did have it. It covered the entire bottom of a 55 with a three inch thick layer of green pearling loveliness :) .

Great carpet Jeff5614!
I use hairnets over rocks as well. The key for me was to remove each rock slowly trim off excess. I then dip in some water to remove any other loose pieces and then place back in tank. Any lose pieces are then suctioned out with a standard 1/2" filter hose. There are advantages to this over for example an HC carpet that will eventually have to be completely removed. With the riccia you just remove the rock and trim each piece as necessary. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...irecracker.jpg |
I have it growing on driftwood in my tank...it has made a nice bush...I dont trim it, but some is always falling out.
I was just wondering because the stuff does well in my tank and I am looking for something to carpet. |
