I have some areas of staghorn and bba.
Low light, fert dosing (macro, micro, excel, potash/iron)
It goes away with direct excel dosing to the area but I'd rather correct the problem.
I'm using nilocg's ei liquid mix for macros (2x 2mL), seachem flourish comp (1x 1mL). Micros and Api leaf zone (1x 1mL). Excel 1mL daily. Lights 6 hrs, two 14w daylight cfls in a 10g stock hood
How old are the cfl's and what's the kelvin on them? and why so many ferts, I just use his PPS pro ferts and excel and I am doing fine, in my 10 gals I use 1 ml of excel daily and have the lights on 12 hours a day with no issues
You aren't using CO2....then, just do a daily 2x excel dosage. Skip the initial dosage. You will be fine. Within couple of weeks, the excel would have slowly killed your algae. That's what happened to my low tech, medium light tank. I dose 2x excel daily.
I know they're low but for some reason my home depot doesn't carry any higher? I read that they still work on the lower end of the spectrum and I have decent plant growth.
Def. will do the 2x excel and lower the ferts to 1mL
