I planted my very first tank this past Friday. Everything's been going reasonably well...just a couple plants melting, almost all others are showing growth and changing colors, so we'll see what happens. I do have one question, though. There's been an oily residue on the surface the last couple days, so last night I did a water change and cleaned out the canister filter really well, but today I noticed it is still there. Not sure if I am doing something wrong (and my tank is in imminent danger), if this is a normal part of the process, or what? Anything I should do? Thanks much!

Thank you! I'll fix it. I was a little worried about losing CO2 that way (I currently have a diffuser in the tank) but I'm currently looking at putting a reactor together instead, to hopefully make things more efficient.

Appreciate the feedback!
