Pretty neat. You never told us if the gouramis bred or not. Did you have a lot by the summer's end? What fish this year?

waterfaller1 - thanks!
Tex Gal - Last year I put a pair of paradise fish in and came out with swarms of juveniles by the end of the summer. This year I put in a few juveniles that were starting to get beat on by my adult male. I am not sure on the male to female ratio. I am thinking it wasn't good as I have not seen any babies this year nor bubble nest.

This year the fish are not nearly as personal as last year. I think the birds drinking out of the tub has kept them down more often than not.

fastfreddie - you nailed it! It grows really well out of the water. Rotala does too but it more stays neat the surface rather than growing straight out.

JakeJ - thanks!

Sorry for the bad pictures but it was getting dark when I found this flower in the tub. I seemed like it was coming from the rotala but I looked up rotala flowers and they are all purple or pink and look much different. Looks somewhat like a sword flower. Any ideas???

Seeing the scummy surface brought up an idea. Have you considered drilling a drain hole near the rim of the tub so you can stick the garden hose in there and do a WC and surface skim?
