Just constructed two indoor ponds...

These are for my LFS, one will be stocked with fish, the other (smaller one) pond plants.

Currently "cycling" this one with a couple of big cheapies.

And pond #2

I'm going to probably need to suspend lighting over this one. Open to ideas...

Those are really neat! Are those blocks mortared together or simply stacked up? is that difficult to do?

Very nice! Here's to wishing I lived close to ya (all my LSFs are nasty).

MH, Tek T5s or HQI combos will be what you want to suspend over those beauties

I didn't mortar the blocks, because I figured I might move them one day. The blocks are 18"(?) X 6" and about 4" thick. I bought them at Home Depot for around $5 a block. I was surprised that even buying two pallets there was no volume discount. As for the size, the larger one is about 14 by 6 feet by 2.5 feet deep, and the smaller one is around 6 X 3. I should pop a tape measure on them when I go by to feed, I could be way off!

Is there a container hidden inside, or is there just a liner held up by the top row of blocks?
Looks good ; ))

Just a liner. I used underlayment in the larger pond, but realized I didn't need to! Getting the wrinkles out was a beast, but the trick turned out to be laying the liner open in the sun for a half hour.

very cool ponds. Someday I would like to do one with tropicals. Maybe African Cichlids.

nice pond.

I would think that the water pressure would push out and cause the blocks to fall.

Do you have any pics of building it?

This would be a really easy way of making a pond lol. I always read about people saying you had to cement the whole thing down or it will collapse.

No surprise they do not make all their money off of people rushing out to buy plywood to board up thier homes AGAIN for the next big nor easter coming in.
But they are very nice looking blocks. The only thing I may suggest is using an adhesive for the top layers, or maybe a L shapped trim boards to keep someone from leaning ont the rim and knocking them into the pond. Kids can be quick and their parents can be stupid.
