Show off your pond pics

How about planted ponds. Anyone have pics they'd like to share or show off of your pond? Weather's getting cold, so it's a great time to plan for spring. I've included a rather old pic of mine at my old house, shame I don't have any after the plants grew in. Looking for inspiration......

Here is mine

Pictures from this Summer, grass shows some heat stress...

I like to lay in the grass in front of it and watch the various animals... Minnows, Gambusia, insects...

This year I fed the Water lilies well, and they hardly left any surface uncovered.

Beautiful animals...

Taking care of business...

And here is how it looked 3 years ago!

Hi, I'll try posting my pics here thru photobucket, which I've never done before. I built the pond over the summer - about 350 - 400 gal. rubber lined, four big comets, homeade "Skippy" filter, electric fence to keep out the coons, herons, otters, cats and dogs. (It works! but we named the pond "The goldfish of Alcatraz")
I'm going to transform the wood planter in the background into another 'vege-filter' pond and have a small water wheel carry the water down to the lower pond.

what's a Skippy filter? Peanut butter related? Chunky would probably provide the most surface area for beneficial bacteria. I guess smooth would be used more like a micron filter?!?

This is the brand fence kit I used, but I bought it at a local feed and garden supply store here in Canada, for only $160 cdn. If you look around you can probably find it cheaper on the web somewhere. It comes in battery or AC:

Shop at FiShock.com

Supposedly a heron will land on the shore and step into the water (as opposed to landing right in the water) and they will either be reluctant to step on the wires or will get shocked if they try to step on them. I suspect a heron could just reach over and grab a fish, but I live right on the ocean and we have nesting herons all over the place, so I think it's been working.

And here's the Skippy Mini- me. I used a combo of bird netting, and two kinds of pot scrubbers for the media:

Wow Wasser! How'd you get the grass to crawl over the edges like that?
I'll have to take a pic of my "natural pond", but the plants have already faded up here....

Nothing special... as long as the liner isn't that much above the soil level, the grass will extend a little and cover the rim. Around the back I am using "Irish Moss" which grows a little into the water and with some capillary action stays evenly wet and green.

One of my little nieces didn't pay attention and took a swim... No fish were harmed in the process.
