Did you change your CO2 parameters? I find too much plant pearling sometimes causes holes on stem plants.

Thanks for the replies. I dont use C02 but there are alot of snails and no algae for them to eat. Must be the snails. I haven't used any ferts or dosed with anything since setting up tank. Should I be doing anything like that? I have flourite substrate and 65 Watt cf over 20g tank. PH is about 7.5 dont know what the other parameters are dont have test kit yet.

With a 55/65 Watt CFL over your 20gal tank the plants will run out of nutrients soon, and then you will encounter more problems than holes in leaves.

Lots of light and no nutrients is an imbalance that usually leads to algae...

Sunset Hygro is a very fast growing plant so they will show defficiencies faster then most others. Holes on the plants denotes lack of potassium. With that much light you need co2 and ferts otherwise algea will be a big problem.
