Mine is actually floating when pearling occurs - the entire chunk, substrate and all floats to the surface.

Try planting them deeper in the substrate I have planted them soo deep the leaves were burried and they grew awesome but it took two weeks for them to poke there leaves through the substrate. Good Luck

I found out that my cory cats and bottom feeders kept rummaging around in it and pulling it up out of the substrate. You can try a few things to weight it down temporarily until it roots good. You can use some stainless steel grating, a hairnet over the top weighted down with rocks or gravel, that sort of thing. Use your imagination.

I planted mine individually as well. I lost a few pieces due to the shrimps but not much now it is 10 fold bigger in the last 37 days.

another trick you can try is cutting very small (i.e. 1/8 inch) pieces of the lead weights and place them on top oft he HC after you plant it.....

or take a pane of glass break it and put the pieces of glass over the HC to weight it down and to allow light to penetrate it
