jasonh's 10gal (56k beware)

Thought I'd share pictures of the setup of our 10gal tank.

Dusted the bottom with a thin layer of peat. Note, I evened it out a bit after taking the pic...well, tried to.

Used the pool filter sand and laterite from the 29, since we put Flourite in there...

Here's where my wife took over..she did the layout and everything. Put some rocks in..

I cleaned up the old hood a bit. This thing has been around for years.

Put in the leftovers from the 29. These are all beat up pretty bad...they dried out bigtime when we moved

The finished product. This is the angle it's mostly viewed at (tough to take pics straight on, it's pretty close to a wall)

Then I got some plants from starccc the other day, so I just tossed them in. I'm having issues with the 29, so I figured I'd keep them in here for the time being. I was in a hurry.

Rearranged and cut off the dead/ragged leaves of the new plants today. Once I get the fertilization on the 29 all sorted out, these will go in there (most of them anyway). Also added some DIY CO2 to the tank a bit ago (not pictured).

All in all the tank contains:

Java moss
rotala rotundifolia
jungle val
corkscrew val
giant hygro
green hygro
sunset hygro
dwarf sag

4 guppies plus a few fry (and a stray endler fry)
2 small clown loaches (to take care of the snail problem for now)
the purtiest Petsmart crowntail betta ever.
snails. lots and lots of snails.

Thanks for looking.

Default Pearling

Yoink, thanks.

Well this is the first time I've ever had plants pearl in one of my tanks. I got the DIY CO2 running this morning, and now I've got pearling

I'm using the PH differential method, since my only KH test kit is like 3 years old and I don't think it's accurate anymore...so I should have around 25ppm of CO2. The fish are still ok, so that's a good sign

Pictures are clickable for a full size image (still under a meg though)

Ugh. There are 2 female guppies in the tank that have been gigantically fat and pregnant for like 4 months. For the last few days, new babies have been appearing every day. Last night we counted somewhere around 45 brand new fry. In addition to the 10 or so that were already there...yikes. Freakin guppies. If only our Endler's would breed like that (actually, they've been giving birth a lot lately too...)

Figure it's time for an update.

The guppies went away....fed the babies to our two angels. the remaining 6 guppies can stay with the angels for now. Got 5 Oto's and a bunch of ghost shrimp. We have a couple pink ramshorn snails it looks like. My wife dropped the hood in the tank. didn't kill anything, but it shocked her good and killed one of the bulbs. Yeah, don't do that Removed the rocks, because there was no planting room. This tank is a freaking hygro forest right now
