Guess I should update this ! ! !
It's been a while since I updated this thread, so here we go!!! I've gone ahead and tore down the tank, removed all of the old substrate from the tank, and started with all new flourite and floramax.
On Wednesday I'll be picking up a new SunSun 302 canister filter, and a 36" Current Satellite+ LED fixture for the tank. I'm currently using an Odyssea CFS-500 canister filter for the tank, and it's just way too much water movement for what I want. I ordered 20 Indian Almond Leaves, and plan to redo the entire tank as an Amazon Blackwater Biotope planted tank.
Also this Wednesday I'll be ordering a Green Element 48" EVO 6500k LED lighting system for the tank, I'll be picking up some window tint in order to dim the EVO LED system, and the Satellite+ system will be used for early morning sunrise, and late evening dawn lighting. The 302 canister filter will calm the water flow down, but I'll be adding another 302 to the tank in Oct. along with a co2 regulator then I'll pick a 10lb co2 cylinder in Nov.
I'll be hitting the local river for a driftwood hunt, see what I can find that
ll look good in the tank. So I'll be updating this thread a bit more often as the tank transcends in a Amazon Blackwater Biotope!!!!

So I picked up 4 more Amano shrimp for a total of 6 in the tank, these little guys are amazing at cleaning up the hair algae from my driftwood, the dead plant detritus from the tank, and are busy, busy. busy!!!
Here's a couple of pics of the tank taken with my cellphone since I lent my camera to my sons for their vacation. I'll post some new pics when I get my camera back!!!

So I received the jungle vals, and then a couple days ago I picked up some Hygrophila corymbosa, Ludwigia Repens, Bacopa caroliniana, and they had this monster leaf Bleheri Amazon Sword!!! I'm talking the biggest leaf on the sword is bigger then the my entire hand, and it was only $5 lol...
Today I went back to fish store again today, and picked up some more Ludwigia Repens, a good size cryptocoryne wendtii, some Rotala rotundifolia, and 2 Amano shrimp to clean the tank!!! I'll be picking up more Amano shrimp because these 2 were just test subjects to make sure my tank was mature enough for them lol.

Well got the tank set back up, and running!!! I really like the new hardscape of the tank, and I got my first 2 orders of plants today.
Quite a bit of Red Root Floaters
20 - Rotala mini butterfly
20 - Rotala rotundifolia
10 - Blyxa japonica
6 - Corkscrew val
4 - Rotala colorata
4 - Ludwigia rubin
Waiting on an order of 10 Jungle Vals to come in, and I'll take some pictures of everything in the next couple of days since the water is still a bit cloudy!!!

I don't know, I just ended up getting a Red Texas cichlid so I got rid of all the plants in the tank, changed out the substrate to regular gravel then ended up finding this guy at a local fish store for $8 so I couldn't resist a Pearl Kamfa Flowerhorn.
Then the flowerhorn started getting super aggressive, so I sold the Red Texas cichlid, sold of the bastard (that was his actual name "the bastard" lol), and now I'm trying to find a good home for my remaining Blood Parrot cichlids, and Green Sunfish so I can get back to a planted tank.
So now I've modified the piece of driftwood that's in the tank now, and once the fish are gone I can figure out a hardscape for the tank. Which shouldn't be too hard since I currently have around 20 pieces of driftwood I can use, I have a few good size rocks, I have some play sand I can use, around 20lbs of natural aquarium gravel, and then the 40lbs of flourite/floramax/ada aquasoil amazonia to use as the main substrate.

|180g||wow, what happened im sure the story of how this beautiful tank turning ino a cichlid tank is interesting. I WANT TO HEAR!|

Alright, I'm back...And the tank was changed into a cichlid tank, but now I'm going planted again period!!! I'm currently trying to rehome the two 3" male Blood Parrot cichlids, and the 5 baby Green Sunfish that are currently in the tank.
I plan to take my time with everything, first I'll need to decide on what driftwood pieces, rocks, and hardscape I want to go with. So here I go again!!!!

Here's some new pics of the tank, now with plants in it!!! Then last week my 3000k bulb died, had the thing going for a freaking week and it dies, what a shame... But I replaced it with another 6500k bulb, and my plants seem to be really responding to the 6500k bulbs combined with a 12,000k white actinic, and a 460nm actinic bulb. Every plant is showing major new growth, and the growth seems to be fast and steady!!!

|xxUnRaTeDxxRkOxx||Yeah it is a nice piece of driftwood... I found it at my normal driftwood hunting location about 2 weeks ago, I'm always finding great pieces of driftwood at a local river here in Denver. It's just under 48" long so I was forced to saw it in half so I could fit it into the tank, then I had to use a few zipties to reattach the pieces together.|

|jmf3460||holy moly that driftwood is gigantic, a bit out of proportioned IMO but nice none the less.|

Here's some new pics

So today I tore down the tank so I could change to a better driftwood piece, too bad I had to cut the driftwood in half because it wouldn't fit into the tank. But I used a few zipties to reattach the pieces together, looks good because you can't really notice it unless you look directly at it lol.
Now I'm waiting for the tank to clear up so I can get started on the hard scape which I couldn't do because there was a few inches of dirty water in the tank so I couldn't see anything lol. But once the tank clears up I can finalize the layout...
Pics to come tomorrow before, and after I do the hard scape!!!

Here's a couple pictures of the tank... Not sure if I like the scape or not.
