russianmd Fishtown USA in Flushing is terrible! I am just getting into planted tanks (I have a 120G reef), and I am not even planning to go there.

Last time I went, half the stock was either dead or on its way there, and the staff was rude AND useless.

Check out some reviews of this store on manhattanreefs.com

LS6 Tommy Please be clear about which Fishtown store you're referring to. Fish Town USA is in Flushing, Fishtown USA is in Ramsey. I'm going to assume you're talking about the one in Flushing. The one in Ramsey is in no way related & it's a good store. Evan's livestock is healthy & happy & he's getting more plant stuff all the time. Here's Evan's link:

& here's the store in Flushing:

jaysen i have been there a few times and the fish prices are good but the quality is terrible. most of the fish die within a few days. the people who work there dont care about customer service and dont mind making you wait an hour before helping you. they arent even busy. the heavy lady behind the register is a female dog, to put it lightly. she told me once that she would help out on price after i pay since i was buying a bunch of fw fish. 85 dollars later and she hid in the backroom and told the cashier she had no idea what i was talking about. plants, as said before, are outrageously priced. the owner is also unfriendly and seemed very annoyed to speak to any customers. i stopped going to the store a few months ago when they sold me a dead rope fish among my many fish and refused to take it back or give me store credit. not worth dealing with them in my opinion. i wont be going back. i actually plan on opening my own store in about a year where knowledge and customer service is a top priority as well as great prices.

JG13 was there today, they only have the japanese cleaner shrimp

i also go there a lot and am looking for a new place to get fish cuz they are consistently unfriendly and not helpful. you should never have to say thank u for them to get you fish.
if anyone knows a place in queens as good please lemme know.

FrostyNYC Stopped at Fishtown a few days ago because I was in the neighborhood. No shrimp this time for anyone who's wondering.

Also, disappointingly, they had a tank full of "heart-tattoo mollies" with some shoddily-drawn heart on the silver balloon mollies' torsos. As if being a hideously deformed balloon molly isnt bad enough, next you're tattooed and sold to a 6 year old girl. I've seen the painted glass fish and the jelly bean cichlids, both injected with colors, but this was a first for me.

Try hitting local.live.com and view a bird's eye image to see if you went to the right store. If you'd recognize the exterior, that is.

Edit: I should have clarified which direction I was facing when saying left or right.
Thats the one.... They also have some freshwater on the right side towards the register... The store is also pretty dark.
