Here you go :-) The prices are on this page (which is where we configure custom spectrum lights) http://www.bmlcustom.com/custom-led-strip/
Here is the custom orchid spectrum:

Hi HF. Since you are going to mount the lights 3' above the tank, I would probably use the 24" fixtures (since light spreads with distance). If we used 3' fixtures, lots of the light would miss the tank. I think three 24" fixtures in the Custom Orchid spectrum would be really nice. You can see the color in post #21 above. It is a mix of 6500K and Deep Red LEDs.

1. I just want to keep plants colored up and happy. Regular house plants with nothing fancy but might upgrade the plants in the future to some orchids (not sure yet). Would like a nice warm color, probably less than 6500k.
2. The tank stand does have two poles where the light hangs from so all I would need is a hanging kit (first pic shows this). Not sure on the ceiling height but it's fairly high. I can have the light mounted as high as 4-5 feet from the top of the tank. Ideally would probably like 3 feet from the top of the tank (tank is 16 inches high I think).

Hi HF. Thanks for the questions. I think the SYPDR 600 is overkill, as it is used to deliver very high PAR levels in greenhouse applications :-) It sounds like you are mainly concerned with 1) keeping the plants happy and 2) enjoying the colors on your plants. Is this correct? Do you have any mounting height constraints on the lights? Ideally, how high above the plants would you want to hang the lights?

Nick / Cara,
I am starting out on research and hoping that you can help me out. I noticed your multi-bar fixtures that sell for around $999. So at the moment I have a 3 foot by 3 foot custom aquarium sitting empty in my living room. I would like to perhaps put some potted plants in there such as orchids and other various things that can be found at HomeDepot (still a beginner to potted plants). I pretty much want terrestrial plants that do not require a ton of humidity or water...just regular potted plants. Anyway, after checking out the multi bar fixtures I would like to know whether I would need all 6 strips or can they be made with less? Also, what about the color spectrum? I am not sure if I would want full red light in my living room since my neighbors will think that something crazy is going on. What would you recommend? Does this light come with the hanging kit? Any advice is appreciated.
I previously ran the tank with 3 regular finnex LED lights and it did fairly well. Would I really need 6 that come with the kit? Or is it wise in case I ever want to expand my collection?

|KenP||Cara, What i found interesting is that Tolumnia will reblume from the old flower stalk. Not sequential but a rebloomer. The first picture, the orchid on the right, Dendrobium? Which specie?|

|howze01||Wow! They look great under those lights! I love the little Tolumnia! I picked one up about 2 months ago and its been blooming ever since. Really think I need one of these lights for next winter...|

Here's some pics I took at the orchid show of the Orchid Spectrum over a sampling of orchids (apparently I am incapable of visiting an orchid show and not buying any). Neither pic has any post-processing but the second one is underexposed to keep that high bloom from being blown out due to proximity of the light, so it's a little bit more saturated than it looked in real life.

Yes, KenP, I am in Bridgewater. I go to the DCOS show every year for the past 4 years or so and that's where I have gotten most of my plants. One of my friends is in Rutgers now going for a Plant Science degree and he has a ton of Orchids. Have gotten a few from him too.
Will check out the Orchid Festival for sure. Thanks. Would love to join DCOS and go to meetings but Tinton Falls is a bit of a drive for me. Will check it out though.

I have a few Orchids that I wintered inside and they weren't very happy about it. Going to look in to getting an LED system for my 55g that will house them. I have a smaller 12" BML unit on my aquarium and want to go with another for this. Looking forward to seeing how these work out for you guys.
I don't have quite the collection you do KenP...yet. Looking to pick a few more up though. You buy yours on line or somewhere local?
