polenslager Aquatic Dreams moved back to Spokane with new owners. Kevin sold the place this summer. The new store now has freshwater as well as saltwater items. The new owners
are nice people and helpful. We did an interview of them for our club Spokane Coeur d Alane reef society.
I have not been to the new store but hear its nice.

Barbie's place in Spokane is really great as well. That is mainly where I go to get salt water items as well freshwater.

barneyiott I have been to Aquarium Solutions and it is a fine store but I found a store closer (post falls), Aquatic Dreams, that is fantastic and if you go in on Saturdays Kevin is there who pretty much knows everything you ever need to know about salt water setups and is very helpful and willing to talk and educate you. On top of that, he had a beautiful Eheim tank heater that was $10 cheaper than what I just bought at Petco and twice the quality. I highly recommend going in and checking them out.

Best aquarium store yet

I posted earlier about Duncan's pet shop in CDA and I still think that if you want to go to a local pet store that carries a little of "everything", Duncan's is the way to go. They have some of the more common fish available with an occasional oddball. I recommend them because they actually take precautions to limit the spread of illness from tank to tank and I don't see dead fish floating in their tank very often. Big Kudos to them and I will continue to give them my business.
However, the store I would like to mention for all within reasonable driving distance from Spokane Valley, is Aquarium Solutions. I heard about this store from this forum and I have to say that taking a trip there was the best thing I have done so far in my fishkeeping lifetime. The store is run by Bobby and Bob Fiorentino. I've only met Barbie so far and I plan on making her shop my main fish supplier. No more Petco or Petsmart! Barbie breeds and raises a wide variety of freshwater fish and she can tell you A LOT about everything she has in the store. She treats her fish for parasites so you can put them directly into your established tanks if you're lucky enough to buy them before she introduces other outside fish. My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with her store. It doesn't look like the typical fish store setup, but it's also run by a more than typical fishlover! Do yourself a favor and VISIT THIS STORE! Barbie has been keeping fish long enough that she's probably forgotten more about fish than most of us can hope to learn.

Skidmore13 I usually go to Duncan's in CDA. They may not have a wide selection of fish but everything I have purchased there has been very healthy. They're on Government way.

Aquamom I have been getting my fish and supplies in Spokane and Lewiston.

Spokane has Northwest Seed and Pet on east Sprague. They're a very large store with an extensive fish and aquarium section, and fairly knowledgeable people.

Lewiston has Bob's Pet and Pond. They take extra special care when bagging fish by placing a little blue pill in the bag water which acts as a relaxant to minimize stress on the fish. Customers who have to travel a long distance to return home can count on their fish still being alive and healthy when they get there.

Both are good places.

Indignation I wanted to bump this with some new information. Barbie from did open a new store in the Spokane Valley area, and the store is AMAZING! She has lots of nice/rare fish and plants, huge amount of driftwood, co2 supplies/regulators, etc.

I recently got into the hobby, and am just figuring out how lucky we are to have such a cool store in our area. If you're in the inland N.W., check it out.

The store is called Aquarium Solutions

Joetee Thanks for the info. I wonder if there is any fish clubs around Spokane ( Eastern Wash) or CDA area.

Satirica There is a "pet store" in the mall at CdA that has a decent fish selection and some plants. There is not a LFS I'd recommend in Spokane. At one point I could have sorta recommended Ocean View Aquatics. There is a rumor that Barbie at is going to be opening a store in Spokane. Barbie used to work at Ocean View and she breeds lots of pretty rare cichlids and plecos.

Another option for you might be Barnacle Bill's in Pullman. I've been told by friends keeping fish there that Bill puts his fish through a rigorous quarantine process so you never get diseased fish from him. Last time I was in the shop he was not selling plants.

If you should find yourself in Seattle check out Blue Sierra in Issaquah.

Hope this helps.

Coeur d' Alene Idaho Area Fish/Plant stores ???

Does anybody know of any real good fish stores or aquatic plant stores in the Coeur d' Alene, Idaho area?
I live near Spokane but still have not found any outstanding places to buy real good stuff.
