|Briz||Hey, same story here AquaAurora! I got three Evolve 4's on the Petsmart clearance, went ahead and modified two of them (drill holes in sump, block off overflow, cut holes in the output hose to loosen flow rate) and siliconed all around the bottom edge of the tank to dissuade leakage. But the filter is loud when it isn't suction cupped all the way at the bottom, which has proved impossible to do once I had taken it out to modify it. Overall just a disappointment. However since I went to all the work I am keeping the two and Craigslisting the 3rd tank for my money back. Live and learn, right?|

|AquaAurora||I had an evolve 4 bought only because it was on clearance. Horrible thing, hated everything about it. Tried to throw it out, husband grabbed it, turned into an algae fest tried to throw out again, niece took it.|

I got SO sick of this tank and my guy seemed to get lackluster. I'm thinking because of the lack of room. So I upgraded him to the Tetra 2.5g. Although it's gallonage isn't technically more than 0.5g larger, it seems like double the size. He's adjusting to a new filter and set up (the filter flow is faster) But I'm hoping he will like it a lot better.
Pictures/specs when it clears!

I had the PCV on the floor for a while and he didn't really use it. I also had the floating betta log in there too, but it look up way to much space. I chose swimming room over it. This is my challenge for a small tank. Optimizing swimming room while adding things.
Any other ideas?

|ValMM||I would put a hidey hole in there. Like a pot or a piece of pvc pipe.|

Long due FTS about a month later:

Screw the Evolve 2! (2.5g Betta, Winter)
I broke all of my own rules yesterday ...
and bought an aqueon evolve 2 and a betta!
(my petco is sh*tty and the tank was totally used. No cover and dirty. can I go complain and ask for a refund without the tank, since I can’t transport a full tank lol)
He’s beautiful! And day two no issues. This is my THIRD instant cycle success using Tetra Safe Start. I can’t believe it. I was prepared for the stress but I don’t think I will have it. I don’t recommend solely relying on the product, but I do recommend having it on hand in case of emergencies or other needs.
Now, I won’t be putting a FTS until I’m satisfied.
BUT here is Winter
here is my filter mod. (this SIGNIFICANTLY decreased the flow)
I took fluval filter sponge, folded in half around the output and secured with thread.
I hate how much dead space this filter has, all because of the "media basket" Right now, I utilized that to put as much ceramic biomedia as I could, but ideally I want to get rid of the basket and make use of the space. How difficult would this be? It seems very.
Thanks! FTS soon with more details
