|Cokeman||I only shop at Animal Ark in Orem.|
|01-15-2015 04:35 PM|
Im Mike, manager of Animal Ark Orem. We have grown quite a bit over the few years improving our planted-aquarium selection.
We carry staple products from ADA (AquaSoil, Ferts, Diffusers, tools, etc.) and have a good selection of plants. We run pressurized CO2 in almost all of our tanks and maintain to keep our plants healthy and algae free as possible.
Our hardscape selection has grown too. Materials we carry are, Manzanita wood, Malaysian driftwood, Mopani Wood, Spider Wood, Seiryu Ston, Ohko Stone, Lace Rock, Lava Rocks…
We have a few display tank showcasing the different types of plants we carry and how they look at their full potential. No special water is used in our aquascapes, just plain old Utah Tap Water.
If anyone wants ti mingle, I work practically everyday 10:00am-5:00pm.
We are in the process of setting up aquascaping classes and/or Aquascape meetings.
(February 04, 2015 8:00pm is our first meetings)
If you guys feel like visited our shop here is our info:

|Timmy!!||I stopped by Fish 4 U yesterday for the first time, and I was extremely impressed! ! They have a great selection of fw fish and plants. They had a ton of fish ive never seen or heard of before, also I love their shrimp. Ive never seen a store carry amano, rcs, crs, bee shrimp, and a couple others. Definately going back at least for the shrimp and maybe a couple more of their 2 dollar plants! Also lots of planted tank supplies such as ferts, substrates, lighting, driftwood, and even entire compressed co2 setups. Highly recommend!|

Tropical Fish Wholesale is opening a retail shop? So they can raise their prices even higher. Haha, their current shop is already retail. The word wholesale does not imply true wholesale prices. They were pretty good for African Cichlids until the hot water springs dried up. I would definitely recommend The Fish Hub for Cichlids, if it's even called that anymore. Fish come in from Europe and are top notch Cichlids. Bob Allen backs them and he is one of the top Tanganyika breeders in Utah and president of the GSLAS, or was... If you are into aquascaping and planted tanks by far the best store in Utah is Animal Ark. Located in Orem. They have the best equipment, fish and plants. They have Current Satellite fixtures, Finnex, ADA tanks, Aquasoil, Eco-complete, TPT ferts from a well known member, Tom Barr Manzanita, Seachem Aquavitro, awesome aquascapes by Mike and John. The list goes on and on... Mike supplies some of the newest and rarest plants in the hobby. He is a plant hoarder and he shares his addiction with local customers. You cannot find these plants in most LFS around the US.
And what is with all these Reefer recommendations. Yeah I like Reefs, but don't say, "Well I guess it is dependent on what you are in to." Well duh! We are on a planted tank forum, uh, not a reef forum, so don't recommend reef stores and try and compare them to my recommendations. Look, I haven't met very many reefers or reef stores that can truly and properly grow plants, let alone build an amazing aquascape-the term by the way refers to freshwater aquariums, so get a new term for saltwater. They all claim they can do it, because of pride, but the only one that could was Aquatica, and not because of Sean, the owner, but his two helpers he used to have back in '07-'09. Two employees, who at the time didn't really mean much, but now I realize how talented they were. They had a kickass planted tank back in the day. Not because of Sean.

All the stores
I just started going to Fish-4-U and it is the most amazing fish store I have ever been to! I am joyed by their huge selection of fw fish and plants.
Mark's Ark is pretty run down and all, but it does have some fish for monster keepers.
The Petco on Redwood road and 72nd S is probably one of the best chain fish stores around.
The place with the pink dinosaur out front has a pretty dece selection.
Tropical Fish Wholesale has a huge warehouse full of fish and a new retail floor coming soon [but not soon enough].

Just continuing to update this........Exotic Reef closed. Now in the Orem area the best place by far is Animal Ark, they carry the new Finnex Planted Plus. They always have a display tank that look awesome! I could spend a lot of money there.
To edit my previous post......the store just west of the freeway on Center Street is called Aquatic Evolution, not Aquarium...(sorry about that) but they are a marine only shop.

|Bergi85||Aquatica is gone, another store came and went in its place called Exotic Reef. Reef Runners is still here in Orem and has good marine selection. Animal Ark in Orem has good stuff. They also started carrying Fennix LED fixtures. The owner of Aquatica started a new shop on the west side of the freeway off of Center Street, called Aquarium Evolution, another marine shop. Those are the shops that I am aware of in the Orem area.|

|Smileyface||There was a fish store up here in Logan called Dan the Fish Man. Unfortunately, he closed up shop and moved to Tremonton. Any ideas where his store is? I never got an address and his facebook page hasn't been updated in forever.|

|sleepingdeep||just another reason i hate living in logan. the options are petsmart or a LFS "Dan the Fish Man"... dan keeps his tanks in such awful condition. its disgusting. i'll never buy fish there again.|

I guess its all in what you want. For fresh water I would recommend Bird world in Bountiful.
For salt it would be Aquatic Dreams in Clearfield!

|DaveFish||This needs an update. If you are going for Cichlids you definitely go to the Fishhub, Allred cichlids, TropicalFishWholesale and if you really want some good tanganyika Cichlids at wholesale price you go to Bob Allen in Salem if you know anything about Tanganyika fish. If you don't know Bob then you're probably out of the loop.|
