tmcpherson301 Just an update:

Floaters are recovering nicely and I've just about won the battle with all the scum and icky stuff that was coating the surface and much of the tank.

What are these? Hard to tell in the picture, but they look like little black worms, yet they don't really move a lot. At one point they were white.

tmcpherson301 Thanks for the tip, I'm going to wait until my floaters recover a little bit incase I make another mistake, but then I'll try your idea.

colaudrey my diyco2 has a bubble counter that also works for seperating the nasty liquid that might make it up the tubes. try making one with a smaller plastic bottle, that should help you

tmcpherson301 Turns out i screwed up on the CO2, thats my guess anyways. I had a nasty bubbly film going on the surface and all of my floaters were dying while nothing else did, so I'm assuming I had some of my mixture from the CO2 slip through into the tank. Other then that nothing has changed much, the hair grass is slowly throwing out runners, I actually planted my onion bulb, and I reattached my java fern to its rock.

In brighter news my peacock gudgeons seem to become more colorful everyday, someday I'd like to try and spawn them in here (Once I solve all these issues that keep popping up).

tmcpherson301 Added some CO2, just wondering how long this type of setup will last before needing a refill. (First time ever doing CO2) 2 liter bottle with this mix: http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f...s-recipes.html

Changed the lighting routine (got a real timer instead of one from the 90's) to 8-12 and 2-9. Wondering if there is any input on how this will affect me in terms of algae.

Also wondering if its fine to leave the diffuser like this because my suction cup stopped working and I don't feel like buying one.

Last question for now, should I keep adding Flourish Excel with CO2? Will it aid in speeding up plant growth.

tmcpherson301 Ended up dropping the moss sheets into my 10 gallon because I preferred to work with my 2.5 then the evolve 2.

NEW SPECS!!!
Hardware
2.5 gallon
finnex planted+
Fertilizations
Dosing excel most days (when i remember)
Adding DIY CO2 when my diffuser comes in
Flora
Salvinia Minima
Java Fern
Hairgrass (believe it is taller growing variety)
Onion Bulb (Found it growing in my bowl)

Just looking for thoughts and ideas about where I could take this tank, I'm considering moving my Peacock Gudgeons in here, just to see if they'd spawn in here, then remove them back to the community tank when done.

tmcpherson301 Started dosing excel today, still just watching growth.

On a side note, I'm trying to think of things I could keep in here, while being able to attain them at a reasonable cost.

Much More Fun in a 2.5

SCROLL DOWN

It's an aqueon evolve 2, I put in a dirt layer covered up with some gravel I had lying around. I'm trying to get a moss wall growing on the sides and back and a carpet of microswords going. Also there is a java fern just chillin on the rock in the center. Maybe someday I'll add shrimp. I'm really just trying to keep track.

Equipment:

stock aqueon evolve 2 (tank/light)
(not currently running filter until I get another plug free)

Flora:

Java Fern
Micro Swords
Java Moss
