kcoscia So much change:

kcoscia Haven't updated here in a while.
Made some changes:
The fissidens/frogbit vase seems to be doing good. I honestly don't do much more than refill it with tank water and throw in some ferts when I feel like it. Pond snails live in there, doing their thing. The layer of frogbit it getting pretty thick. The fissidens is alive but the picture makes it hard to see.

The next vase used to be anacharis, gravel and a root tab. It turns out that it never really grew that well. I don't know why. I cleaned it a few weeks ago, put in new water, did a gravel clean. I htink the root tab was too much nutrients. I got a lot of green hair algae so I decided to move the anacharis to a tank where it can flourish. Now, I put a tiny java fern plantlet in and some of my new water lettuce floating. I will throw some ferts in once a week. Look at that cute baby java!

kcoscia UPDATES
current setup: GE mountable cabinet light (with removed white diffuse cover) with zoomed floramax T8 bulb

fissidens vase

anacharis/red plant vase

with this one, it was gross. a nasty film on the surface, unclean colored water and a god awful smell. I think it's my soil, must be old or something. So I emptied it out, and now the base is plain gravel with an osmocote+ tab. I'm going to start dosing iron to help with the red

I'm hooked

newest addition

soil capped with sand
amazon sword (i know it will probably outgrow eventually. i thought it would be cool to watch it fill out in a bowl)
and I will be adding MTS to tunnel the sand cap

kcoscia i've seen and like yours! I'm already thinking about moving my fissidens into its own little square glass jar because I may start excel dosing, and I know how much fissidens hates it
