Rush3737 Just wanted to drop by and say that the butterfly conservatory was excellent! The reptile/beetle room was an unexpected and awesome touch, and I loved that the sanctuary wasn't just butterflies, but frogs, birds, a pond, and quails just running around as well. It was a really neat place.

Aqua View was also very nice, but small. They had some beautiful fish, and plants I considered purchasing. Only reason I didn't is that the tank I'd be buying them for doesn't have any algae yet, and in some of their tanks they did had some.

If they could get a bigger store to have a good selection to go along with obviously great quality, they'd be awesome. Time to move East to the Boston market!

Thanks for the tips, we're definitely doing the conservatory. I'll actually be coming down from Brattleboro. After the show in Boston I'm seeing Tuesday night I'm staying with a friend near Manchester. From there I'm heading West and then dropping down.

CrypticLifeStyle Drove through last weekend, and i'd say if your a scenic drive type route 22 north through upstate NY to route 2 east to north adams, then south on the 91 to north hampton. I went the opposite way but it was nice :-)

Qwe I'd say that's enough time to check out Magic Wings: http://www.magicwings.com/

Pretty cool place, imo. About 14 miles north, 20 minute drive from Aqua View.

Rush3737 Hey guys, I'm from Allentown, PA but will be in Boston next Tuesday. On Wednesday I'll be coming home and was looking for possible stopping points along the way and this place came up as perhaps the best aquatic stop. Problem is they don't open till 1pm. If I arrive in Northampton area around 11am is there anything you guys could recommend in the area to do until they open?

Oooh, you're right down the street from the Calvin Theater! I was debating on driving to Northhampton to see City and Colour play in a couple weeks.. If only I could keep goodies in my car.. I may have to stop in and check out the plants .

stanjam I also like Aqua View. Aubie and I love going to all sorts of aquarium stores. Aqua View is one of our favorites. That is if they are still speaking to me after my female apisto killed their male after a failed breeding attempt!

I don't see why not, Albany is just as close to Springfield as Boston is...

Fish Frenzy has gotten better over the last few months, and the owner Ed is a wealth of knowledge, both freshwater and salt. Sadly, nowhere near organized.

One way to get started on the plant swap idea is to either create a new thread or have everyone interested here list what they have to offer?

Entomodonata Checking in from Northampton, MA. Quite a few of us here -- we should do a plant swap or something.

Aqua View is excellent for plants and fish. If you can deal with the lack of organization, Fish Frenzy in Ludlow, MA has very healthy fish. Some plants, but nothing exotic.
