kcoscia Made a new thread since I made so many changes!

kcoscia Manzanita in place, tank scaped, and two platies in. One seems to have taken the transfer better than the other. We will see.

kcoscia Thanks! Yeah my biowheel was 3 years old, louder than hell and I needed a new impeller assay so I decided why not upgrade.

Changed my mind about stocking: I'm thinking about going platies! 6, 2 male, 4 female and a nerite snail. I want something simple so I think they will work. Plus they are gorgeous colors.

Melted I feel your pain with the filter change. Good choice too, and cant wait to see how it looks with the new wood.

kcoscia I went NUTS. Installed the zoomed 501 and the finnex planted plus AND rescaped in foresight of the new manzanita branch!

So, I tried my best to transfer media (and the bacteria) but I couldn't fit much. What I ended up doing is, I took the biowheel apart and cut up the paper and put it on top of the new ceramic media. I'm going to monitor because I'm sure I'm gunna re-cycle a bit.

I uprooted everything. I cut all the wisteria down to the health leaves and got rid of the bacopa carolina. In there right now is wisteria, a corkscrew val, some sort of plant that I really like with red under leaves that grows well in my setups and my crypts in the front left. I will be including attached to the manzanita: whats left of my anubias (I had a TON of rhizome rot, idk why but I got rid of a lot) my java moss and my small needle leaf java fern.

Manzanita branch is planning to go from back left to front right in my current plant arrangement.

PHEW. I feel so good about this. Will restock with new fish eventually.

all lights (red, blue and white)

new filter (thank the gods above)

kcoscia Ordered a ZooMed 501 today! Excited.
So sick of my current filter. Old and having difficulties. Ready to upgrade!

kcoscia had to make some filter modifications because the filter floss was getting stuck in the biowheel and fibers are stuck on plants all over. Hoping the blue pad will block it and fix the issue

kcoscia okay so I made some changes.

Plan: java moss on the tall tower hoping to flow down, bacopa Carolina on the right side and ludwigia repens along the back right behind the towers. Can you picture it? Suggestions always welcome.

I really want to get this tank to the point where I am happy with it so I don't have to put my hands in it all the time

kcoscia rescape completed! I was feeling rather ambitious today.
Will post a picture once things settle in a bit. I like it better, but I'm thinking I need some tall vals for the back.
