NSAquatics Hey there! It's NorthSide Aquatics again.

Yes, we have moved. We are at 7610 Counts Massie Rd. in Maumelle.
Our web address is nsaquatics . com

YankyTexan NorthSide Aquatics has moved and as a result has more normal business hours. If you are looking for saltwater in central Arkansas this is the place to go.

Paradise Pets in Benton is a well run operation. The owner is generally onsite and is a good guy. Great freshwater fish selection. They also stock saltwater as well.

Good luck

anthonysquire Just wanted to add my 2 cents about North Side Aquatics. IMO one of the best stores around. I've been there quite a bit, especially lately since my wife is wanting me to set up a FOWLR tank. The fish are always in top shape, at least the times I've been in there. I guess I'm a little biased since the only other store in the area I've been to is Pet Palace in Jacksonville. I have been to other stores in other cities not in the area and NS Aquatics is still one of the best.
FYI they are in the process of moving to a new location not far from the current (actually closer to me). The new location is

If you get a chance stop by, I don't think you would be disappointed.

phishy I just set up a planted tank... I'm wanting to get some more plants and some shrimp along with a few fish. I'm so excited to find a really good store somewhat near me! We're leaving Thursday for a week long vacation... when we go through there on the Saturday a little over a week later we're hoping you'll still be open so we can stop on our way home. Otherwise, we'll be down very soon afterwards! Looking forward to it!

Just taking a minute to say HI

Hi, this is NorthSide Aquatics!

We stumbled across this post via google and thought it appropriate to post a little something in response to woodymdt's kind comments about our store.

A lot has happened since this original post in 2005. We are still a hobbyist owned business, and our hours are mostly evenings and weekends (we are now open Sundays), but we have really expanded our plant section!

We have done away with our reptiles and turned our former reptile room into a planted aquarium room.

Looking for ADA products in Arkansas? Come to our store! We stock substrate, fertilizer, and CO2 products and can order in anything from the catalog.

Our website is NorthSide Aquatics and Reptiles - Tropical Fish, Corals, Freshwater Fish, Cichlids, Aquatic Plants, Aquarium, Reefs, Clams, Installation, and MaintenanceNorthSide Aquatics and Reptiles - Tropical Fish, Corals, Freshwater Fish, Cichlids, Aquatic Plants, Aquarium, Reefs, Clams, Installation, and Maintenance. (For some reason, it's pulling in the whole title bar of our web address here...not sure why.)

Store Hours:
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday - 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Sunday 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Thanks for letting us plug our store. We will add a link to you guys on our website!

woodymdt I've heard some good things about that place in Hot Springs, but haven't made it down there yet.

There is also word of a pretty good store in Conway.

Searcy has a shop, but I wasn't too impressed with it.

AlexPerez When I lived in Hot Springs about 1 year ago., There was a LFS that was great. Its called Marine World Tropical. They have both Fresh and saltwater fish. And had a decent selection of plants.

Central Arkansas Shops

Well this by no means is an exhaustive monologue on the LFS shops in Central Arkansas, but just a tid bit on the ones that we have visited.

There is a place in Bryant named H2Ocean. They deal in both salt and freshwater setups, fish, equipment and advice. The people there have lots of opinions on setting up fresh and salt tanks, and are quite knowledgable about the stock they carry. Admittedly I haven't noticed much in the way of plants for freshwater, but our three or four trips there have been while we were setting up our salt tank, so didn't pay that much attention to the fresh stuff.

Just outside of the Little Rock/N. Little Rock area is a small community called Maumelle. In Maumelle there is a small part time shop called Northside Aquatics. This shop is run by hobbyists who all have full time jobs, so their shop is only open three evenings a week, and on Saturdays. They have a nice stock of salt stock and equipment, and they are getting more and more freshwater stock and equipment all the time. I have come to really like a couple guys there because they don't want to "just" sell some fish, they really care about what you're doing, and how you're doing it, and actually listen. We hadn't gone in there in a couple weeks and went by there Saturday, and one of the guys there asked me how our new chihuahua was doing. We'd only mentioned it in passing the last time we were there that we had adopted that dog.

In Jacksonville and Cabot there are two stores owned by a pretty nice family. The stores are called Safari Pets, and they deal in all pets stuff including fish. They don't have a huge stock, but they do carry a few things I haven't seen in some of the other stores.

So there ya go, a few places that we've frequented.

Oh BTW, if anyone is in or near Jacksonville, there is a place called the Pet Place...DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE go's nasty, it should be closed down, and I don't know how those people operate a store without getting fined.
There, rant done.
