Welcome to TPT! It's been several years but I've been to North Pole, AK - when I had to visit Ft. Wainwright on business - dang it gets cold there in the winter!

hi new to forum, live in North Pole.
haven't messed with the hobby for years, currently building my own 110 gal.
looking to eventually go with a planted discus tank.
Bump: new to the forum, but i believe it stands for A-laska C-oral and F-ish. from what i can tell they might actually be the only reputable fish store in the state.

|seagrasser||New to the forum, have a 13 gallon and 25L planted. Hoping to put shrimp in the 25L fairly soon.|

New to the forum.
I just got back into planted tanks in October of this year. I may be a newbie to this forum but I have had aquariums since I was 10 years old. Presently have a 75 gallon tank; in the past I had a 55 and a 29 gallon planted tank as well.

Maybe you can start a mini-GWAPA up there! I've been to Anchorage many times; it's a nice city except during the pothole season!

|Silky||Glad to see there is a planted tank community up in Anchorage. I'll be relocating up there in a few months. Really dreading tearing down tanks and selling fish/plants off. Oh well, here's to starting over soon.|

|Krystal907||Still trying to get my 75g up and running. I kind of stopped doing anything about it because I realized how much I hated the stand that came with the tank. The Man and I are almost done building my new stand (just need to finish it) and then I will be able to ACTUALLY get my tank up and running! I'll be doing an order of Diamond tetra's from ACF (Alaska Coral and Fish) first and pick up as many Spiral Vals as I can just to get the background started. I had a big ol plan for how I wanted everything to look, but it's been so long I will have to re-imagine it. Plus, the stupid driftwood I found is not cooperating and sinking for me... They've gotten more water logged, but not sinking all the way. Oh, and plumbing the sump with the new stand is not something I look forward to.|

I'm from Alaska. I just joined the forum and I am hoping to keep fish for a while.
akdylpickles-What does ACF stand for? I might be interested in ordering from them

Its awesome to see this hobby is doing so good in Alaska. I'm from South Africa but would love to move to alaska in about two years time. Have dreamed about your country for a very long time and thinks its one of the most amazing places on earth!
Hope everything works out and that I Get a job there after I'm qualified artisan.

|akdylpickles||Have you gone to ACF? They can just about order you anything you want!|

|AKnickolai||Figured I'd drop in and say hello to everyone. I'm in the process of setting up my dream tank, 150 gallon with high clarity glass that has been sitting in my garage for 3 or 4 years... I'll be doing a rather massive plant order from somewhere in the next few weeks if all goes well, but I'd like to at least try and see what I can find local. So if anyone wants to get in and save on shipping let me know. I've shipped discus up in the winter before and never had a DOA, so I'm sure it can be done with plants.|

|grogan||They usually run around $85|

|akdylpickles||How much do you need?|

As is, I am currently wrestling with my stingy nature to purchase some Amano shrimp there
P.S.: how much are the sq.f mats?
