be_pessimistic good news and bad news:

good:
out of all the plants i've received thus far: NO SNAILS! yay!

bad:
i've shifted my tanks around so many times, so now the plants are everywhere!

i removed the driftwood from this tank since it took up way too much space. instead, i've planted down some wisteria, hygro, java fern windelov, and regular java fern. there's also some bratty neons who are so timid... can't wait till my platies explode with fry so that i can stick them in here as "dither" fish.

be_pessimistic thanks for the suggestion.

i think i might just leave it there as it really doesn't bother me...i've come to learn to block out the filter intake and the heater. i don't know if the heater is fully submersible, as they usually have a recommended water level on them.

no plants yet, but they are on their way. as soon as i get them and update the tank, i'll post photos

GulfCoastAquarian I dont' think the pea gravel/sand combo looks crappy at all! It's going to look cool!
Is that a submersible heater? It would look better to lay it horizontally along the substrate, since you're going to view it from both sides.

be_pessimistic no. this one didn't crash , instead, it just has been stagnant.

the tank is a Regent Galaxy 5 [gallon], or, as i like to call it, a wolf in sheep's clothing...tehehe. just kidding. it's made by marineland supposedly. i've read it somewhere online. the filtration system is the standard marineland with the biowheel, however, i most probably will remove this once i get some plants in. lighting, i believe, is an 8 watt flourescent, though it's been a year since i purchased so i've forgotten. visitherm heater set at 78 degrees F.

because it is situated at the head of my bed, and i may want to view it from the back, i may not put a background on it

i've kept some of the original sand in there, and mixed in some cultured gravel. turns out that it looks a bit crappy, but i can live with it. and the piece of driftwood that was mentioned in my other post (http://www.plantedtank.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4412) is now in here. as soon as the plants arrive in the mail, there will be some green in the tank!

and after plants, comes the fish...
