Soothing Shrimp So far I think the best choice for me is Apisto Cockatoo.

Gorgeous fish but in my experience they will only eat baby shrimp, depending on the age of the culls this may or may not be a problem.

Soothing Shrimp I agree mbunas are very colorful and easy to distinguish gender, but I'm only looking for a 20L in the living room.

AdamC13 There are some very colorful killifish. You can also go with dario dario but they are quite small and require special foods (but from what I've seen of your postings I'd say you're at a pretty advanced level of the hobby and can handle it lol)

There are also some quite striking gouramis to be found or you could always go African cichlid depending on the tank size. I kept mbunas in the past and they are BEAUTIFUL.

EDIT: strike the mbunas didn't notice you said 10 or 20 gallon.

scokaw If you like betta's, there's other options besides the common splendens. I kept a group of Betta channoides in a 20L for while, even had babies. They have a dark red color with fins edged in black and white. I'm sure they'll love your shrimp culls.
