AquaPipes Aquarium Photography

by Barry Heller

Join us this 4th of July weekend for a talk by Barry Heller discussing aquarium photography. He'll cover the basics of undestanding your camera, how to take good photos, and how to apply those techniques to your underwater friends. By the end of the meeting you should be ready to go home and start taking beautiful photos of your fish, shrimp, plants, and aquariums.

Barry got started with aquatic pets in the late 1960's, and in 1970 he stared taking photographs with a 35mm camera. Over the years he's combined the two hobbies together, and with 40 years of experience he's been able to hone his photographic skills and will share what he's learned with you.

Come on out Sunday, November 4th for a presentation on Tanganyikan Cichlids. The COAST fish club will be flying John Krepper out from Indiana to talk about these beautiful fish.

Lake Tanganyika cichlids offer a great deal fish suitable aquarium fishes that I have kept over the years and I have accumulated a great deal of experiences. As part of my hobby I feel that it is also important to photograph and share these experiences with others. I have selected my best photos of the Lake Tanganyika cichlids and share my experiences in keeping these fish in the aquarium environment. Topics include a brief history of Lake Tanganyika, feeding, water requirements, territory requirements for various species, breeding behavior, photography and the general enjoyment of these beautiful aquarium fishes.
After the presentation there will be a large auction of fish, plants, and accessories, as well as a raffle.

The meeting is free, and guests are allowed to bid in the auction (Be sure to register when you come in). You aren't asking to join the club until your 3rd meeting.

Snacks and drinks are provided for a small fee.

August 5th meeting

The next Meeting is August 5th in Costa Mesa.

The humble goldfish, often the first pet fish one owns as a child. Either won at a fair by throwing a ping pong ball into a small bowl, or purchased by a parent out of the "feeder fish" tank. Those who continue to keep fish usually move on from that first goldfish into tropical fish, and miss out the huge variety and types of goldfish available. From small feeders, to giant Japanese Koi, to those that barely resemble fish at all with bug eye and huge bellies.
The world of gold fish is much larger, and often more beautiful that many realize. Come join COAST on August 5th when our guest speaker, Dick Au, takes a look at the varieties, selection, maintenance and reproduction of the goldfish.
Dick Au is a world-renown expert and author on many facets of the fish-keeping hobby. Dick has written numerous articles for publications such as TFH magazine. In addition, Dick is a current speaker and judge on the national and international levels at prestigious events such as NADA and Aquarama.

turbomkt LGHT,
Yeah, COAST is still going. They have regular meetings a bit south of you down the 405. As Shane mentioned, we're trying to get SCAPE going well and you've got a couple links to do that with. Good to see you here!
