Re: Otos $1 petsmart

Sounds good. Yeah I go through Quincy every day so that would work out nicely. thanks much appreciated.

dtejeda.arias My gf lives in Quincy... I'm usually around there. Give them a few more days and I will part with a few. Want to make sure they are healthy. I just noticed one died out of about 14 I purchased in the pass 4days... Got them eating broccoli at the moment.

Re: Otos $1 petsmart

I had to get kitty litter anyways, so I stopped by the Braintree PetSmart to check out the otos. 3 dead otos in the oto tank. Bummer. Dtejeda, if you want to unload those extras, let me know if ur ever closer to the city.

dtejeda.arias No problem! I'm glad my post helped out someone . Petsmart in evertt gets their fish shipment tomorrow. They also dose their tanks though, so it's a buy at your own risk on Mondays

Re: Otos $1 petsmart

Careful with the chinese algae eater... they turn to monsters once they mature... mine disseminated my snails in one tank and even hurt my fish... killed a britlenose, 2 laege apple snails, and a dozen pond/ram snails.

nofearengineer Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention. They also had Neon Tetras on sale for $1.19.

I got 6 Oto's and 12 Neons for about $20.

And despite my reservations about the big box stores...they're all still doing fine. Looking very healthy.

Dave Allen No personal experience either but I also hear that they dig. I've been working on my HC carpet too long to let that happen.

dtejeda.arias I haven't had any personal experience with them, but I heard they turn out to be quite mean over time.

Dave Allen I picked up a half dozen Otos yesterday. When I got them home I realized one of them was actually a Chinese alge eater! Not the best community tank fish. I may end up rehoming the little (for now) guy.

dtejeda.arias Just bought a few more today. Couldn't help myself just watch them sit there in a box store tank while they pray to end up in a good home. So I can part with about 5 in about a week or so after i can guarantee they are healthy for the same price I got them

dtejeda.arias Come on ottos for a dollar. That's like by 1 get one free and second 50% off!!!

allknighter I'd stay away from all fish offered at the box stores, they're more likely to crash your tank through ich infection than anything else. It's bad enough trying to keep out all the nasty stuff that comes in through trades and SNS purchases.

I will say, that I've never had an otto catch ich; though they can be the vector in to your tank.

dtejeda.arias I have had that happen from Petexpress in Lynn and petco in Cambridge. Pet express is just awful when it comes to their fishes health

Otos $1 petsmart

I never had problems with the places around me until a couple months ago and got ich from hell so now I'm paranoid haha. Maybe it's just the Leominster ones

CrypticLifeStyle Petsmart, and petco just notorious for ich infested fish. It's just hard to treat ICH in a planted tank. Their fish come from huge fish breeding/grow-out ponds, which arnt the cleanest of places for sure Check the isle where ich meds is, you'll never see it over stocked, always on the cusp of being close to under stocked. Those med sales make them $. Just be careful, and good luck
