aquaphish If you are going to try to lower your Ph you need to first find out what your KH is at. The lower your KH which is the buffer for Ph the easier it is for the CO2 to lower the Ph.

My parameters for my 40 gal. :

Ph---6.8-7.0
GH---5mg/l
Kh---6mg/l
no3---5-10ppm
no2&ammonia---0
lighting---2.5w/g(but will be @3.0by nextweek)
substrate---50%Florite/50%gravel mixture

Do you need your water to have a ph of 8? Seems kind of high, unless you're keeping some fish that require it.

Also, if you keep a high ph level, won't your CO2 ppm be low (depending on your kh levels).
Look at this link to see the relationship between co2, kh and ph:

SNPiccolo5 CO2 will not lower your GH (or KH) at all, just lower you pH.

Glud Hey guys.

Soon i will be setting up my first planted tank. I will house 4 angels until they pair off and 5-6 corydoras trillineatus or habrosus.

I think the subject mentions it all. My tapwater ph is 8. I dont know my gh.
