|TheRiverRat||Thinking more and more they are bristlenose. Can anyone tell from the pics? Would be much appreciated.|

The cpos (dwarf Crays) are awesome! Have not seen really any agression towards other tank mates. They fight each other over food sometimes which doesn't look harmful and is fun to watch. Have not uprooted anything and they are always out.
On another note anyone had oto breed before. I now have seen quite a few babies (a dozen or more) and have noticed some have color and others like the first pick appear albino. They seem to be doing fine just looking for any tips or tricks. Never seen an albino oto too was wondering if they were baby bristlenose but they look a lot like otos. Here is a pic of the ones with adult color. Could only get their underside!

How do you like the crayfish? I'm so tempted to try one but I'm afraid the fish might give him a hard time (or vice-versa).

|TheRiverRat||Counted three fry on the glass today. Pretty cool to have something spawning in the tank for the first time.|

Some exciting updates to share! Flower from my red rubin sword is growing multiple plantlets outside the tanking and white flowers are blooming. I also stocked 25 neons in the tank (only one loss in two weeks so far). My otocinclus also had some babies, only have seen one fry so far. I though one was preggers and my suspicions have been confirmed. Here are a few pics, I cut off all the lace leaves as they were old and algae ridden but it is already sprouting new ones. Thinking of maybe putting a red lotus there though...

My red rubin sword is flowering for the first time ever, thought that was kind of cool. Also added 3 orange dwarf crays. They look awesome, I will have to snap a few pics. Thinking I will get two more. I also got ten red cherries for my 3 gallon, don't mind the algae in the pic. Will also have to get a pic of them. I am impressed by the quality of the crays and shrimp, brought them back from Elmer's outside Pittsburgh while I was visiting my gf.
Kind of got burnt by the light
Little pico, don't mind the algae it has been cleaned and I added a foam pre-filter.
New spathe forming on the nurii, couple plantlets shooting off too

You can't go wrong with lake erie smallies or the walleye and perch for that matter. I live in Port clinton aka walleye capital of the world lol but all the fish do well here... that is until the jumping carp takes over...
Hopefully you fish pleasant hill lake over by mohican, smallies, largemouth, saugeye and I think some musky even.
A native brook trout tank would be awesome man. My dream tank is a huge darter/dace/minnow river tank.
For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of catching some nice lake smallies:

You should try leopard jungle val. I have some now, and it's pretty sweet looking. I'm waiting for it to really get going but so far it's been chilling in a corner throwing runners places.
Never got lace seeds, but I do have two I'm growing out ATM so we will see what becomes if them. My ulvaces flowers like crazy though, I lee trimming and it keeps trying.

Kwheeler that stump tank is wicked! I want to do a trout tank like that with brookies and big ol stumps eventually. Trout are from michigan. I fish a ton in central ohio though, mainly chasing smallmouth and saugeye. I saw you fish erie in your thread, you guys are spoiled up there! I always make it up for some smallies, perch/eyes, and steelies. Buddies have been catching hawg eyes off the piers up there.
Thanks Hydbrid herp. Not much in the way of fish right now; few otos, two small bristlenose, SAE, MTS, two assassin snails, undetermined amount of tiger shrimp, five amanos, and two bamboo shrimp. Tons of plants though!
-Anubias (barteri- normal type?, nana, petite, coffefolia, broad leaf)
-Swords (red rubin, pygmy chain sword)
-Crypts (nurii- 2 types, florida sunset, bronze, parva)
-Java fern windelov
-Other unknown aponotegon
-Jungle val (about to remove the last bit though)
-Little bit of duckweed i think
That should be it! Guess it was good to get a stocking list down. I want to get some crypt affinis and rosanervig. Possibly some downoi too. Don't have much space now though, just getting into a 3 gal. i have though.
Lace flower is looking good, will have to get a pic here later. Anyone ever gotten seeds from one???

Everyone who has a 55 wishes it was wider, check my sig nice tank man, especially with no co2.
I have to ask where did you catch that trout?
|11-28-2013 11:07 PM|
|TheRiverRat||Thanks that means a lot!!! I can be a tough width and have often wished it was a bit wider. I plan on getting a custom built rimless to fit the stand I built with my dad... whenever I fall into some major loot!|

Ive never been a fan of the 55g with the small 12" width, but you make it work with the black background and setup.
The only 55g that ive liked

Have switched some stuff around in the tank! Moved the sunset crypts to the right side of the "beach" and added some bronze crypts on the left. Added some new anubias on the right that should just take ohhh a few years to fill in how I want them lol. Moved some fisseden covered java rocks by some of my crypt nurii too.
Threw in some tiger shrimp but I was not home when they arrived some my mom dealt with them, the two I have seen look amazing. When I got them though I also got the anubias which had soil on the roots and I told my mom just to throw those in too. Not sure if that would affect/kill shrimp or the rest got sucked into the filter (going to clean it tomorrow).
My madagascar lace is also flowering for the first time ever too!! Pretty purple flower on a wicked long stem. Nurii (compact one) has shot out another spathe.
Just though this java lace leaf sprouting a ton of plantlets was cool!
