Loplop I couldn't pass up this deal, even though I didn't have a perfect application for it, as I someday plan to do a Mini M or similar. After receiving the light, I laid it on top of my Fluval Spec V (at the back, still also using the stock light), which has struggled to grow out plants on the stock light. After about 7 days the growth underneath the Fugeray is VERY noticeable. Looks like I need to upgrade to a larger Finnex for this tank...

I agree the arm placement isn't ideal, as I really couldn't get it to mount on the Spec V. This won't be a problem on most tanks this is destined for, though. The general build quality is good, not outstanding, but certainly solid and feels fairly durable. The flexible arm isn't perfect and won't stay in certain positions, so will have to keep an eye on that. For the price, the build feels about right.

In any case: this was a great sale price, shipping was super fast, and I'm pleased with the purchase. Can't ask for more, really

DefStatic You can check my Evolve 4 in my signature for some pics of it. I am quite impressed.

I am not a HUGE fan of the arm placement on it, but other than that I have to say I don't think you will beat this for $30. Easily worth $50.

15% off new Finnex FugeRAY-R LED

All good questions! Looks like I'll be finding out the old fashioned away.....first hand!

CookieM Anyone using this light on Fluval Spec V? From all the pictures I've seen so far it's not very bright.

Nubster So just to clarify, this light on a 12" cube tank will give medium light? Suitable for a low tech setup?

Re: 15% off new Finnex FugeRAY-R LED

I'm wondering if the light is too short for an 18" long 3 gallon tank?

the addiction continues...

shloken38 Good to know. Thanks a bunch for the info. No matter what, I think this light is going to serve me well!

Barbgirl Personally I would put it on the 5.5 gallon. The arm would be a perfect length for it and would allow you to raise it as needed.

shloken38 Not really looking to go high tech at all. I MAY delve into some DIY co2, but that's about it. And the only plant I'm considering that is out of the low tech range is blyxa japonica, or some other "easier" low growing, carpet-like plant. So are you saying this is high light for the 2.5? Should I use it on the 5.5 instead? I may have the option of raising the light a bit from the surface with the setup I'm considering.
