Hoppy The graph is obsolete, in any case. There are now so many different T5 lights available, made by so many different manufacturers, that the chart can't be correct. It was always intended to just be a rough guide, but now it isn't even good for that. See for much better information.

Rigio That's a confusing graph.. So my tank is 24' tall going to be buying 4 T5HO I need to suspend it 12' above tthe aquarium to make it high light? So it would be smarter for me to go with 3 t5Ho's and suspend it 4' from the top?

Dx3Bash This chart may help. Keep in mind with higher light comes increased need for pressurized CO2. If you feel your lights are too bright you can always raise them a few more inches from the tank, or attach some window screed underneath your lights to block some out.

too much light?

I have a 45 tall planted tank. I had one t12 the daylight bulb in the hood it came with and my plants were dying. The guy at my local fish store said I needed more light. Didn't tell me what I needed. So I got a hood and t5 super daylight and a max plant growth. I turned them on and it's way bright.

I wasn't sure if that was too much light. I also have florish excel and root tabs. Thank you.
