Maechael Welcome there Tom, sorry it took me so long, haven't really been on here much lately due to extended work hours.

So many upgrades and changes and tweaks here.

All microscapes have been turned into Betta homes, with a lovely harem in a large bowl.

Will be rearranging the largest community soon and hopefully (fingers crossed) condensing 4 smaller tanks to a 55 gallon community.

PlantedDiscusTank Tom in Warren here. I just picked up a 125 gallon that will be a planted tank. Planted tanks are new to me, so I'm still researching information. Hope to have it up and running in a couple of weeks.

Also have two 55 gallon discus tanks and a couple of 29 gallon tank with discus fry growing out (bought the juvies online).

Sold my 195ga reef tank and equipment to fund getting back into freshwater. It's been about 20 years since I had a freshwater tank. Always had oscar's and dempsey's.

Having a blast so far with freshwater!

Blackheart Also sold the light for 40 bucks... not as much as I hoped I'd get out of it, but it'll do

Blackheart Had a lot of good luck recently! I actually sold the 40 gallon for 100 bucks

Blackheart Yeah that'd be nice, but ah well. Thanks anyways. I decided to just put the 40 breeder up on craigslist. I'm just gonna keep the 75 and set it up sometime in the future when I'm not on such a tight budget.

Maechael Blackheart if I had transport, I'd get the 75 and the 40B from you, but that's a long distance for them.

Blackheart Speaking of activity... I am having no luck selling my 40 breeder. With how popular that style of tank is I'm surprised nobody wants to buy it!!

Maechael Hey let's see some activity here people.

New stufffor me, I've decided to start doing micro scapes in tiny containers.
Also I've fallen in love with meijer's plants, 5 bucks got 7 narrow leaf java fern clusters and 60+ 16inch rotala stems.

Time for some rescaping, mini/micro scaping and a ton of W/C's.

Hope all is well out there.

Maechael Finally got our 40b setup and filled and now inhabited.

Blackheart I picked up a 75 gallon with the stand today from a garage sale for a hundred bucks. Score!

mrpixel Setup two 20Gallon Highs in our bathroom on an iron stand. Have them cycling at the moment. The two otos I have in my 5.5G at work decided to spawn and now I have itty bitty fry clinging to the glass.

Blackheart Considering maybe selling my current setup (40 breeder and stand) to help me purchase a C02 kit for my new setup, whichever one I go with. still not sure yet.

Maechael Well hello all, OP here is back for another update.
Just bought another 40B at petco dollar per gallon sale.
Hoping it replaces at least 3 smaller tanks, amd allows for some tank shuffling.
Truly wanting to be rid of large aggressive cichlids by the beginning of fall, and settledon into nice calm and quite community setups.

RCS finally bred for me after nearly a year, dozens of babies.
Mts population has skyrocketed, rabbit snails finally reproduced.

From this standpoint, to me, the 75 seems to be the best choice. Sure the 45 is cheaper per gallon, but you don't seem to be a fan of the footprint and the 75 allows you more stocking options.

This is my opinion anyway.
Yeah honestly a 75 is a bit out of my budget, though. If I'm spending 400 dollars for just the tank setup, that's a bit much for me. Will probably just go with the 45. I can easily slope and or add 3 inches or so on the substrate it'll be a little bit better.

Don't mind the footprint on the 45, I'm just short is all lol So I'll have to find a way to plant the tank more easily and work in it.

I don't buy used tanks. I like them brand new and clean.
