plantetra I felt the same. They are all really new and neat. Maybe thats why they have healthy fish. If thats the case, the petsmart on Haggerty road in Commerce has a new setup in the making. They sold all the fish out and when I went there, they had no fish and all the tanks were dry.

Maechael That and the staff if knowledgeable still cares enough to try and keep things clean or alive.

Blackheart That's probably why because their still a newer location and their tanks are all clean for now.

plantetra I have been buying from petsmart by orchard lake and 14 or the one on telegraph and they never lasted. Funny part is they give live guaranteed for 15 days. And to my bad luck, I have some ghost shrimp in there and so I have never recovered a fish body to show petsmart and get a new one. But all of a sudden I buy 12 fish at 3 occasion 5, 5 and 2 from a petco by Orchard and 13, they all survive. This Petco is small and new. So I am wondering if they are taking good care of it.

Blackheart Well yes and no. I never buy any fish from Petco because they always end up dying.

But I did have a pretty good experience with buying Neons from Petsmart in Rochester on Addams road. At the time they had really clean healthy tanks and I picked up 16 of them since they were on sale for a dollar. I did lose a few, but that wasn't bad considering I bought 16 of them and they did live for awhile. That is, until I lost a few to some kind of weird infection in the tank and then accidently killed the rest of them buy not putting prime in the water after a huge water change.

My opinion is if your gonna buy them from Petsmart, CHECK the tanks and make sure they look healthy, have lots of color and the tank isn't littered with dead bodies. I had also bought 6 previously from a really healthy looking tanks at the Petsmart on woodward in Royal Oak and they all lived as well before the infection in my tank. I don't use a quarantine tank, I just acclimate the fish and put them in my tank right away since their the only fish I have. I'm planning on building up my school of Neons to 20 again hopefully soon.

I have a Petsmart and a Petco nearby. I bought 10 neons and 3 Otto from Petsmart, quarantined it and one Neon and one Otto survived. Bought 10 Neon and 2 otto from Petco and all of them are doing good. Not all at the same time. This was over a course of 2 months. Do you guys have any such experience?

180g...I can't even fathom a tank that big!! I <3 discus...I'd love to have a discus tank, when we eventually finish our basement, but I think I'd have to invest in a RO system, since our tap water is on the hard side.

Right my 50g is pretty much set...just waiting on a female Bolivian ram to be available. Starting to toy with the thought of a 15-20 low-tech set-up for maybe 3 pea puffers. I'd probably buy a larger stand and keep that tank and my 5g together on it. Right now my 5g is on an open-bottomed table and it's a cluttered mess of cords and stuff underneath. I'd love to hide all that stuff in a cabinet.

Maechael Blackheart you seem to sell more than you keep haha. I hope the tank recovers though.

Blackheart Not much activity here huh? I recently decided that I might be going to save up for wooden canopy for my tank as I really like the way it looks. I already have the matching stand. The same LFS, Kee's, if anyone's interested has Marineland 75 gallon tanks on sale for 120 bucks so check that out.

Sadly also recently my tank has came down with some kind of infection I believe and killed almost my entire Neon Tetra population I went from having 17 to 5 in a matter of a day... I think it might be due to having dead fish clogged inside of the aquaclear filter that I couldn't see so I didn't notice it and it's decaying body caused the others to get sick. It had to be in there at least a month. I have been treating the 5 I have left with this fungal medicine from API for the past week or so and they seem to be doing okay.

Also on another note... I have a bunch of aquarium supplies for sale if anyone's interested so check out the thread!
