Maechael Best of luck with either direction. Personally I really think 40Bs have some of the best dimensions for a standard tank.

Blackheart Once again thinking about downsizing tanks.... I already have a 40breeder setup, but being so busy it's kind of a hassle to maintain. I picked up a clearenced Aqueon 25 gallon setup for 60 bucks today and I might be switching to it full out, using it as a cherry shrimp tank with some easier plants.

Might want to sell my 40 breeder set up, the tank and the stand. not sure yet.

GMYukonon24s It was Motor City Aquarium Society auction. The building they had it in was just off of 13 mile and the first street east of I- 75.

Blackheart What place is this? I work in Madison Heights.

GMYukonon24s Hi Ellen, welcome to the TPT and to the Michigan subforum. Troy is a nice area I work at right by Troy and went to college in Troy. There's a auction in Madison Heights tomorrow you should check it out. I've been going to this auction for a couple years. It has like a 1000 items that get auctioned off. Great place to meet people with the same fish interest and you usually get great deals.

givemethatfish Hi all,

I'm Ellen, and I'm in Troy. I am fairly new to fishkeeping, but I'm kind of hooked now.

I have a 10G standard tank with a betta and 2 snails, moderately planted, low tech.

I have a 4G fluval view with a betta and a snail, 3 small plants, low tech.

I have a 54 gallon corner tank I'm currently setting up. Still going low tech, but I'm experimenting with some more moderate light plants. Still haven't bought lighting for it. I don't know what kind of fish I'm putting in it either.

I have 1 empty 5 gallon tank set, 1 empty 10 g, and 1 10g that's currently housing plants. I haven't decided what I'm doing with the empty tanks yet!

mrpixel i did get the mq200 par meter from apogee. I've also build a telescoping wand for it so you can test any where in your tank you want. let me know if anyone is interested in borrowing it, and we'll work something out.

fearsome Any news on the PAR meter mr pixel?

Also if anyone is interested reef tanks apparently there is a big coral swap, they claim its the biggest in MI on Sunday the 16th in Lansing. I might go, not sure yet.

Blackheart That's a nice thought, but every time I buy fish from either PetCo or Petsmart, they die one by one. No thanks.

I'll stick to the LFS. Now if that went towards tank setups as well, that'd be great.

mrpixel My friend just got back with me and said that the sale includes special orders but all orders need to be in by February 14th.
01-28-2014 06:12 PM
TekWarren I am never impressed with the petco near me (Muskegon) they done have much and there is never anyone around in that department...and that is no exaggeration! That said half off special orders may be worth the hassle. Just would have to figure out when to order, day of sale, or try to pick up day of sale. I have someone I can ask for details also...

mrpixel Just a heads up for those of you interested in stocking fish soon. Petco Is having "The Amazing Aquatics Event" 50% off ALL Freshwater fish and plants.
I've reached out to a friend who is a manager at a petco and I'm verifying that this includes any fish that they can order.

Here is the Order list that someone got for one of the stores, with SKU numbers. 12 Different kinds of Discus. Wooohooo.

I will update everyone once I get confirmation that special orders will also receive the 50% Off Discount.

This sale is Feb 22nd and 23rd.

I will Cross Post to one of the main threads, but I'm posting here first because I love you fellow Michiganians.
