Fish Ed That's how they propagate. Tinier version of them grow on their leaves. You can pull it off after it grows to about 2".

+1 on that the long brown stuff is the roots of the new plantlet's and the green looking ball in the center of it is the new leaves that are are forming.

what is growing on my plant??:eek:

Attached a pic of something growing on the underside of what I think is Java fern? This looks strange to me so I thought I would post it on here for an ID.
